Yep, it's like the new-build Tornado - to meet modern safety standards, the boiler has fully-welded seams instead of using rivets like they did in the old days. The rivets on the boiler and smoke box are only pretend.

I've added the handrails with their lovely cast brass stanchions, caps and flanges.

i still think an animation that would top it all off would be an animated fireman that throws logs into the firebox. besides, not only have there been no new engineers,it would need an 1860's era looking crew to look more realistic. !*cheers*! :D

And yes, she will have two fully-functional mechanical crosshead-driven feedwater pumps, so if you come to a stop and need to fill the boiler, you'll have to run her up and down a short stretch of line to get more water to go in, just like in the good ol' days *!lol!*

What's really funny, is how designers hate to admit they were wrong.
You see... after decades of fiddling with many different locomotive designs, they had to admit the American 4-4-0 was the best design of all time.
So, in order to hide the fact they were wrong in the first place, the designers built the 4-8-4 which is actually two 4-4-0s back to back... *!greengrin!*
New build. i7-7700k, MSI Z270 Gaming M5 Mobo, Hyper 212 Evo, Corsair DDR4 3200 Mhz RAM, Klipsch Pro Mediea 2.1 Speakers, Samsung 850 Evo SSD, HAF XM Case, Asus Strix GTX 1070 and Cooler Master Storm XT Keyboard.
Slick with Pretty Rainbow Colors.
