I'm glad to see the bridges are getting weathered. The early WIP pics had them a little too clean for my liking.

Maybe longer, in late-August and Early-September DTG rolled out a menu wallpaper with the NJCL.

While I was dusting some old magazines, I fell into a Classics Trains issue from Spring 2003.
It included the article "Creatures of the Canyon" by Fred Matthews about the Feather River Canyon, with pictures taken in 1947 with his father.
The article shows several B&W pictures describing the steam trains that roared along those tracks with 2-8-8-2, 2-6-6-2 and some Consolidations (not the Lima, I believe). There is also a picture of the Exposition Flyer train succeded by the California Zephyr, pulled by F3´s, scheduled to cross the canyon "by daylight". The Keddie wye looks exactly as nowadays (and as the oncoming DTG route).
The 2-8-8-2 available were only a few, but they were the kings of that road before those years. The article mentions that WP used heavy Mikados to travel from Oroville to the bay area, leaving the heavy work up to Salt Lake City for the articulated locos.

An interesting article if you, like me, keep those Classic Trains old issues in boxes or shelves somewhere in your house. !!howdy!!

The overall look is impressive, and Keddie and the wye look great. The river in earlier screenshots looked pretty good as well.

But in the article above, it looks like that strange canal that passes for a river in Soldier Summit.

Please keep in mind you are comparing the representation of the Feather River (in the "earlier" screenshots) to that of the representation of the small tributary of Spanish Creek, which is what flows under the trestles at Keddie.

I want this so badly! I hope it releases soon!

I've been doing some neat stuff with Quick Drives and custom consists to make decently realistic auto-generated work orders. I'm developing a program that assigns you a job and outputs a custom quick drive scenarios on the fly. This route seems like a perfect test subject

Ah, hadn't realized that. It would be nice if the modeling of Spanish Creek were up to the same standards as the Feather.

I'm not bothered by any supposed lack of fidelity such as the post above describes. I'm not going to be comparing screenshots of the route to pictures and counting trees. I'm happy with successful representations that allow me to suspend disbelief and feel AS IF I were there. That's why the strange canals bother me. They are a kind of cartoonish representation of "bank" and water, always consistent width, almost like a road, and that jars me out of immersion and makes it clear I'm in a kind of rough sketch of an environment.

I'm just looking for believable, not necessarily accurate. It's why I find Orbx scenery so much more compelling than most photoreal scenery for FSX.

First, these are WIP pictures, so take that into consideration.

Second, I'm comparing the TS2016 pictures of the Keddie wye to pictures of the prototype location in the same time period, and I would say they have done a great job for the most part with the scenery density and rock/ground patches. If you are looking at modern pictures of the area, remember that 40+ years have passed since the time this route is modeled, and that the trees have grown larger/thicker in that time.

They usually release these things right after a sale, so I'm going out on a limb and saying next week after the sale is over.
New build. i7-7700k, MSI Z270 Gaming M5 Mobo, Hyper 212 Evo, Corsair DDR4 3200 Mhz RAM, Klipsch Pro Mediea 2.1 Speakers, Samsung 850 Evo SSD, HAF XM Case, Asus Strix GTX 1070 and Cooler Master Storm XT Keyboard.
Slick with Pretty Rainbow Colors.
