Yes that's normal for all DLC now.
It's basically the same if you turn scoring off.

First off...John... OUTSTANDING!! This route really brings back the memories of when...MSTS started to really get some detail! It is like "coming home", to an old friend! Very nicely done. People immediately start going to the "negatives", but I, personally find this route very well done.

To answer some of the questions...The horn...spot on! I have ran many real locomotives...and no two horns are the same. I love the bell coming on as the horn sounds as well. The only "wish" I have here is the new headlight "loom", like on the SD60M and ES44DC's.

Brakes. I love them! The last few locomotive additions to the RW line have had really great physics. These brakes are the most real yet. I am also glad that dynamic braking has come around. This really adds to the realism factor. I do notice though, it seems that the freight cars have the "springing" effect, and I get a momentum race going on, (up to 5 mph between head end and tail end of train), when using multiple applications. This would actually, in real life, be a "double reduction", and slow the whole train twice as fast.

For you guys who do not like long slow runs, and waiting...DON'T go railroading. You can ask other railroaders on this board (and I know that you are here!), some days you go to work for 12 hours...and make 10 -20 miles! And mountain grades....well, they are long....and slow....and part of railroading! Sit back, and enjoy the sounds and the scenery. This is a "simulation"...not "Modern Warfare number 26"...where you get shot, and live again 30 seconds later.

Please, keep up the great work! Now lets get some SD40's (candy stripes), cabooses, remote cars, and Sultran gondolas! !!*ok*!! :D

I have attached a few screen shots! Buy it...you'll love it!!

Best Regards,

Galen

I'll let you know after I stop running through reds! !*roll-laugh*! Seriously, I'm thinking of reverting to "simple controls" for this route, but I've only spent a few hours learning thus far, so I'm not quite ready to surrender yet.

There is a braking tutorial, which begins with a lengthy but interesting video discussion-demonstration. Interesting because of the technique: I didn't know previously that entire videos could be inserted into a scenario.

I'm hoping to be able to pass from !*hp*! to !*YAAA*! in the near future. It'll be a brake-away move.

Wow, I was just thinking about those re-skinned equipment to use on this route. Nothing like some weathered loco's !!*ok*!!

For anyone who downloads Jessies CP SD40-2s, be sure to pick up the head out view fix from http://www.trainsim.com/vbts/tslib.php? ... &fid=24383 Default view is porch view, but with the fix you will be able to see out your engineers and conductors window.

Alas!, there are no more "Standards" when it comes to scenarios included in RSC route packs. (Pun intended, of course.)

Alas!, this package includes only one locomotive, which is a "beaut", but a bit of a pain to drive due to the evidently more realistic train brakes.

The good news for switching fans like myself is that one of the included "Car-rear" scenarios involves switching -- very simple switching, but something other than "duh ... dwive dis twain fum heer ta der". Unfortunately, the presence of only one (quite powerful) engine in the package means using a draft horse to do a mule's work. More good news comes from the fact that this switching scenario can be driven at a normal switching pace, by which I mean not having to race up to the speed limit only to brake down to coupling speed, while still earning a goodly number of brownie points. In my far-from-humble opinion, this adds up to two steps in the right direction. By the way, I worked around the difficult train brakes by using the engine brake as much as possible and applying car brakes when necessary. The most difficult aspect of this scenario comes from the near impossibility of keeping an eye on the brakes while stopping in the right place to change a switch. A brakeman's view would sure be advantageous!

Ah, yes! before I forget, one of the best pieces of news that I can offer about this route is that Foreman Dan Hernandez has not migrated north of the lower 48. !*YAAA*!

The third party American routes have been pretty good in regards to the timetables - Stevens Pass was pretty solid. I haven't played through Marias, but even the LA Surfliner Career wasn't actually that awful - it was mostly just due the brakes on the F59PHI *!twisted!*

The German timetables however are an exercise in frustration.

You need to learn train brakes, if you want an accurate simulation. Engine brakes in real life would "burn up" in 20 to 30 minutes and would be useless....

Just saying...

Does anyone else notice that when dynamic brakes are on, the sound continually loops from whining up to "full" and then whining back down to "idle", constantly repeating while the dynamics are on?
