I've just had a look at the 2D map included and matched it to Google streetview and it looks like the Industrial loop is there and the 2 lines going off east and south and the 6 road yard in Shelby, so, there is somewhere for us freight fans to park our consists for the night. !!*ok*!!

Looking good Derek and Bob, we British love mountains, well, everyone else's, 'cos we don't have any....... !*roll-laugh*!

Well if the real-life route is boring, and this is a sim, then, yeah...
I'm like Old Prof, I like road switching on short lines.
On the other hand, here I am writing a scenario for Donner Pass. Go figure.

Also, you have to think of the poor British players. Routes like this are their only chance of seeing anything other than concrete walls out the window.

These are the views I am use to:
http://dereksiddle.blogspot.co.uk/

However, I must say nothing like what you guys get to see. But then that's the beauty of our sim.
It transports me where I want to go in a time period of my choosing.
Marvelous!

Very pretty country lanscape, Derek! It looks like a page out of a Beatrix Potter book.
That is what I imagine when I think of England. I'm glad it's not all concrete walls after all!

I really hope rsc includes new locomotives like a BNSF Gp38-2 and also some BNSF Es44s from reppo models. I also hope they add snow to the locomotives and just not one paint scheme hopefully they can look at streamlines to see how they did the BNSF pack and do some stuff like this.. or if not just sign a del with jointed rail

There you go again with that word "relative". But unlike the physics issue, it applies well in this case. Looking forward to the route.

Those pictures on your blog site are missing the English rain. I have a ton of British friends on Xbox Live I've know on there for years. To my surprise they ALL hate British weather. I tell them it can't be that bad and they all assure me it is. It appears to be a sore subject with them, so we just avoid the subject. But once in awhile I'll joking ask "how's the weather?" and of course the groans soon follow. A surprising amount of them want to leave the country someday for better climate.

The most striking thing I find with my British friends is their vast array of regional accents. Especially northerners towards Scotland. I'll get some guys I don't understand on there and my brit friends comfort me by saying "Hey...we're British and WE don't understand half our fellow countryman either" !*roll-laugh*!

My accent is northern and a few may struggle to understand me.
I can have it raining, I actually like the rain, very moody.
In my screen shots I like the sunshine, as a boy I spent many summers around that very area swimming in the river in the late 70s and early 80s.
Yes it rained but those are not the days I remember nor the days I want to recreate.

I use the word relative a fair bit I agree, mainly because in my view almost everything we do and experience is subjective.
Certainly when people say X is good/bad, short/long, boring or exciting etc.
Almost everything in life can be better, and the world is not black and white and I don't blow hot and cold.
Forums are a place for opinions and views, some extreme but that does not make them wrong, just harder for me to relate to.
Everyone has a different view depending on their own experience, circumstances and knowledge and I am fine with that.

"Life is like a journey, taken on a train
With a pair of travelers at each windowpane.
I may sit beside you all the journey through,
Or I may sit elsewhere, never knowing you.
But if fate should mark me to sit by your side,
Let's be pleasant travellers; it's so short a ride."

The most interesting part of the first look segment that I read was as follows:

first look at marias pass webpage wrote:However, what frames the entire route are the Rocky Mountain ranges in the middle which in reality can be seen for the majority of the route. To achieve this we are using low-poly terrain data drawn in the distance which renders the terrain much further than previous routes.
