A quick look at the list of my installed routes and scenarios and a quick calculation shows that I will finish going through my content around March 14th, 2067, a little before my 105th birthday.

Well my friend you could just use the one you already have. You do realize that there are newer people with the game or maybe don't even have the game that will be excited to have this.

...once they get other workshop scenarios and repaints that need the need the standalone UP SD70ACe...they'll realize they will need to purchase the same engine again for a different installation directory for that content.

Just looked at some of the promotional pictures on DTG's Facebook. I think there are too many skyscrapers in Downtown KC. !**conf**!

They are not buildings. Mostly silhouettes.

It looks pretty accurate to me.

I get that you're from there, but that's getting pretty nit picky regardless.

Only for those so computer challenged that they are incapable of moving things from one path to another.

Before I go under fire for critiquing, I was born, raised, and still living in Kansas. I am from Kansas City. I was hoping for some actual effort in a route like this. I was literally just up there today for about 10 hours.

Just based off of the stream they premiered today, this route looks nothing like Kansas or Kansas City. The only thing similar is the track work (not the track model and textures) and signalling. Domestic buildings, commercial buildings, bridges, roads, vegetation, and terrain paint all need to be done away with. What makes me infuriated is the fact that the buildings represented in the route are from the NEC: NY - Philly. Kansas City has a unique set of skyline structures. What's represented is sheer laziness and a failed attempt at reusing assets.

Here in Kansas, the grass is generally pretty dry. It has a yellow-ish tint to it, sort of like prairie grass. Armourdale Yard is lacking a lot of detail. Where is Santa Fe Jct? Where is Union Station? The two major staples of Kansas City don't even exist in that route. The bridges here are not blue either. They're green-brown. I don't think I've ever seen a blue bridge like the ones depicted above Armourdale. I really wish DTG would've actually tried on this route instead of taking the lazy way out. It's a regular occurrence.

And before the "nobody is forcing you to buy it" comments, you're correct. I don't have to buy it, and I will not buy it. This route is an insult.

Rant over.

Sounds like a pretty legitimate rant since you posted specific errors.

Martin I have to agree with you. Just watching the stream, there are many issues with the route aside from the ones you pointed out. The random AI collision during the scenario, the GP40-2 ditchlights flashing, and random speeding infractions. And they said this route would be released tomorrow. So, these issues will likely make it into release. They didn't even show the SD70ACe, so who knows how many bugs that will have. But, I've come to expect the low quality that DTG puts out. Especially after Wayne's route was released. Which I might add, is completely FREE and actually a quality build.

I watched it from the beginning.

Sorry, Assets by themselves is not a reason for me to by a route. I will note that if you watch this video from the very beginning you will see on the left side of the screen a repeated intro for the route. Watch carefully and you will see some of the “quality” structures. It shows an SD70ACe pulling up beside a grain elevator. There are two tracks with the loco on the right hand elevator loading track. This track is supposed to go under and through the car loading house..... yet, the car loading house is half buried in the grain elevator and not over the track. Putting the grain truck there just makes it worse because it leads you to believe that there is supposed to be a truck grain dump there too. Not.

I suspected this was a third party route when it was first announced. I would have thought someone at DTG would have run the route (every track) before they thought about a “public” stream. Maybe including it was just an afterthought to go with the Mastery announcement... The route, as it is, is nowhere ready for release, that’s for sure.

P.S. Let me add, that IF that structure is supposed to be Gage’s Fertilizer and Grain, then it misses the mark. Such an iconic structure that has been there for over 70 years should have received at least an somewhat accurate portrayal.

I believe you will find that this route has quite a number (and some very impressive) new custom assets that nicely represent key locations and structures along the line (as well as being welcome additions for use by route builders in the future). The "Twitch stream" unfortunately showed few if any of these. You might wish to "keep your powder dry" until you see more of the route upon release.

This route has left a seriously bad taste in my mouth. That stream demonstrated nothing. I'm not buying a route for a bunch of assets that I can end up making myself that would probably be higher in quality as it is.

EDIT: A lot of those "impressive" assets are really just scaled up versions of older assets.
