As GN said, it is technically feasible.
However it is much simpler and logical to have interconnected scenarios.
So you run a scenario on the MP route ending at Shelby , then you run a second scenario on new route starting at Shelby with the same consist on the same track.

Not to mention it take 3+ hours to go from Whitefish to Shelby anyway. I know I personally don't mind a break in the middle :)
