I know I am beating a dead horse here, because wishes always obscure facts, but

a. Multi-player would require a major re-write of the Railworks code. The 17 people who want it will not want to pay for it so there is no potential return on investment. Not to mention that Railworks is obsolete 32 bit software.

b. Plugin for anything... No return on investment because the 53 people who want the plugins do not want to pay for them, Not to mention that Railworks is obsolete 32 bit software.

c. Shaders. No return on investment because the 72 people who want new shaders do not want to pay for them, Not to mention that Railworks is obsolete 32 bit software. Plus there are freeware shaders out there.

None of these will ever come from DTG for Railworks unless they abandon their X-Box division and rewrite the code for Railworks in 64 bit. Chances of that happening are slightly less than chances I will be the next Pope. So, to quote Dread Pirate Roberts one more time: "Get used to disappointment."

I hope that the bugs in the Caltrain DLC will be worked out when the TS2018 package comes out.

+1
I had earlier thought that DTG ditched it for TSW.

IIRC from a few months back, TS2018 will be the last one. But they will continue support for it, for the foreseeable future.

That's the theory.

But their migration plan depends a lot on people buying the replacement product instead of mostly continuing to develop and work in the TS2017+ legacy. That's not going to happen without a tool chain, bug fixes, etc etc etc.

Yup, so basically we should keep seeing updates for TS20xx for a few more years I hope.

I was pretty jazzed to buy TSW: Great Western Express a few weeks back, until I saw that one is required to buy TSW: CSX Heavy Haul with it. I decided to pass. I'm just not interested in CSX Heavy Haul and didn't want to have to purchase it in order for GWE to work. So I guess I'm sticking with the TS20xx franchise for the foreseeable future.

It'd be a lot better if they removed that bloke who stares at you whilst the game is loading. It gets very annoying when you export a new asset and have to reload to make it's ok etc.
