Nope I don't think they would of done that. DTG does not care simple as that. DTG is like EA wants money and nothing else.

I can't wait to learn how you reconcile that statement in the context of something having been taken off sale!

Seriously, Wabby, (I hope you don't mind me calling you that, but couldn't really give a toss if you do) spend a bit of time working through the logic of your last couple of posts in this thread to see whether you can find any. !!det!! !DUH!

Well they are a commercial organisation with overheads - not a charity - if it bothers anyone far the best way to show their disgust is either to stop using the sim, or at the very least buy no more of their DLC. Quite a few other providers now and all that is required (generally) is the base Railworks software...

Removes all the gripes *!!wink!!*

BTW - I have no complaints to make about their business model - provided everything I have wished for over the past few years and generally getting better year on year. Knocks spots of any other railway sim around as far as I am concerned - more power to DTG - and seriously looking forward to Feather River :D

But that doesn't make commercial sense, does it?

If the underlying intent (as implied by my new friend) is to rape every consumer $ possible then you don't withdraw the route from sale, surely? (If it were left up to me I'd have kept the NEC on sale and doubled the price!) :D

Wabs. Over to you. !!howdy!!

Its called EA wants money and DTG wants money and both companies don't care about their customers. But out of the two EA is worst. They don't care about their games at all. They don't even bother fixing anything. DTG does fix stuff but not at the rate most people would like. So honestly the two companies are similar and different. One does not care at all and one cares a little bit but not a whole lot.

Thanks for the reply.

So we've established that both companies want money; which is hardly earth-shattering news. Goodness me, even charities want money! Who knew?? !*don-know!*

But perhaps you might answer the question posed - given that we now have common ground with the understanding that commercial companies want money - as to how this equates to a product being removed from sale in order to achieve this selfish goal?

I honestly think your innovative business model has a great future, and can only imagine the huge profits that must surely be gained by not getting any income from a product that's not actually being sold. It's genius! The DTG Finance department must surely be drooling at the prospect and rubbing their hands with glee!

Cheers

Bob

Glad I bought the Acela when I did. I was planning to buy Portland Terminal but now can't thanks to DTG.

The Portland terminal route was pulled down weeks ago because of license issues with Pan Am.

I don't really care. I have the NEC and never use it because it's truly a disaster area.
Maybe they'll redo it and sell it with the UR4 game engine.

The NEC is one of the older routes, so most of the Assets might be in the Kuju folders? "Classic American Assets"
New build. i7-7700k, MSI Z270 Gaming M5 Mobo, Hyper 212 Evo, Corsair DDR4 3200 Mhz RAM, Klipsch Pro Mediea 2.1 Speakers, Samsung 850 Evo SSD, HAF XM Case, Asus Strix GTX 1070 and Cooler Master Storm XT Keyboard.
Slick with Pretty Rainbow Colors.

Nope,it's under RSC,however Kuju did make it,so I wouldn't know.

Many of these assets are around in more than one place. I'm involved with a project that uses some stuff from Marias Pass and I find that this same object does in fact exist in the Kuju folder, just a different path so the asset is actually a duplicate in my computer.

I assume with the NEC come some specific Amtrak/PRR station buildings, landmarks, 25 KV catenary, colour position light signaling and other stuff. Not all of this would be available in other DLC. Probably only the catenary and signaling will be missed by route builders working on other parts of the former PRR electrified territory. Though some of it might be included in the NJT North Jersey Shore line, which I don't possess.

Default US route Sherman Hill has very little generic assets at all that are usable for a north eastern USA route building project.

In some cases they've added snow or ice for winter textures to the original assets, but they could have kept stuff in the original Kuju folder and just added a winter texture to the file names.

No color position lights.
Catenary looks terrible.
I can't comment on the stations since I've never seen the real ones.
