i agree with EMD.
Listen to your beta testers findings, don't ignore them. Make things look and work right straight from the start. You'd be surprised how dedicated volunteers can be, a Steam unlock code and line of credit probably being their only reward. They aren't in it for the money but rather for their satisfaction, "I helped making this route as good as it is and I am proud of it".
Take the Metra Aurora line currently under discussion here while it is still in active development. The thread sometimes flames up high in arguments over how this or that should look or be done. With sensible argumentation most disputes are easily settled with "thanks for pointing out that error to us, your suggestion was most helpful and implementation is easy so we'll pick it up " or "thanks for your suggestion, but the game engine doesn't allow it, the effort needed doesn't weigh up, it does look like that for real" etc. In the end I feel both creators and buyers will feel better over the product as it will be generally "better" and satisfies more people's expectations. Once released, perhaps a little bit later than anticipated, there will be less support issues, fewer questions, better financial reward, higher customer satisfaction and in the end better outlooks towards future projects.
I think this is the only proper way towards better and better stuff in the future
