OK ...my translation and takeaway from this TS2016 announcement.....

"If you thought in the past that we were drifting away from making a train SIM and towards making a train GAME.... boy you ain't seen nothin' yet! We're going EXTREME!!!" *!rolleyes!*

When I hear the word EXTREME.... the first things that come to mind is the X-Games, Doritos, Mountain Dew and energy drinks.....NOT train sim.

Anyways... this announcement is a throwaway to me. I await the announcements that follow this for hopefully some red meat coming our way in TS2016 cuz this one is just fluff. To be honest... if they are making a sim with an all new game engine powering it in the near-distant future, I don't expect them to throw a lot of effort into the yearly iterations leading up to it.

I'm just hoping they include with it a route I want, but don't yet own. !!howdy!!

That was my initial reaction too. Let's hope we're both wrong! *!rolleyes!*

I like TS, but the tag is Extreme BS, if you ask me. *!rolleyes!*

Agreed! The tag line is an epic fail, seriously.

features and content that will challenge and entertain in equal measure

a selection of all-new extreme challenges

will test the mettle of every driver

I'll take a crack at what they mean by EXTREME....

Remember pulling your hair out trying to get the highest medal in career mode running the Pacific Surfliner with ridiculously hard timetable goals? Well now for TS2016 we've made it so hard that it's literally impossible to medal at all....except we don't tell you that. We've designed it so even with the absolute perfect run, medaling is just a split-hair out of grasp but sadistically fools you into thinking "if I just do a little more perfect run this time...I've got this!" when you will NEVER get it.... cuz that's what we mean by EXTREME! *!twisted!*

We've added a mode where you can't stop or go below 15mph at the platforms. Passengers must sprint to jump on the moving train.... tuck and roll to get off. Deaths and injuries of passengers dock you points..... cuz that's what we mean by EXTREME!

We've made scenarios where you must get from point A to B in the WORST time possible without ever being allowed to hit 0mph until you reach your destination. Oh... and saving is disabled and pressing pause instantly causes the scenario to fail. So you must get that 100-car heavy drag train from Roseville to Sparks in one run, no stops, no pausing, no save & continuation and as slow as possible against other people on a world leaderboard. So bring your caffeinated drink of choice, lots of patience and some mad throttle/brake feathering skills..... cuz that's what we mean by EXTREME! !*roll-laugh*!

Oh...and if DTG uses my brilliant "EXTREME" ideas, I better get my 20% cut. *!greengrin!*

Oh it was noticed....but I just ran with it. Funnier to run with the joke. I came up with some great ideas. My train GAME comment was only half-joking though. *!!wink!!*
