I am usually not a huge fan of English routes however this one looks great. I think I will have to pick this one up at some point.

So far the exceptions to my non interest in UK routes have been The Western Lines of Scotland and the Maerdy Branch - I am thinking West Highland can join the ranks of those routes.

first impression - it is awesome!
beautiful scenery, and reasonably complex Class 37 controls. at least, one has to read manual once before to drive this loco.
RETB thing is really challenging. also, it adds some interaction to the game, making impression that you talk with radio operator.

I still don't understand some things (need to re-read manual), but there is a short tutorial scenario on Class 37.

btw, some film scenes were shot in this area. Highlander, Harry Potter, as far as I know

The only thing I don't understand is economical value of this line.
Engineering work is so massive - a lot of cuts though rocks, bridges, tunnels, viaducts.
Mallaig is quite small town, and station doesn't look like it has enough industry to generate a lot of bulk freight.
In modern times, it would be justified if Mallaig had big oil or coal terminal or aluminium plant, or something like that.

indeed it was the other thing was that back when the line was built Mallaig was one of the busiest fishing ports in the UK so a lot of fish was shipped out to places across the UK

The manual fails to note that this package includes 10 (count 'em, ten!) career scenarios plus a free-roam and a quick drive. That's more scenarios than we've seen in a very long time!

As evafan002 says the port used to be really busy with most of that traffic going by rail.
Today the line will have a few commuters but it is mostly tourists that use it.
There is always steam and diesel charters using the line.

I doubt the real route has very much in the way of superelevation either - line speeds have always been very low.
