EDIT: It become available after I left the platform, would it be available at the platform IRL or do they use diesel at the platform?

No, in real life, the trains are usually in electric from Grand Central until 125th street station. Being in diesel at the platforms is the exception.

I just got this today and I must say the Engine sound is not the best. It could use a sound pack but in the bright side, they finally got a horn right! I think this is the first default horn in this game I have liked. I am moving it to the P42DC. I am gonna take the Engine sound files out of the P42 and put them in the P32.I will let you guyes and girls know how it worked. Other than that this is a nice Loco!

Unless I'm doing something wrong, it seems the train won't move in electric mode unless the diesel engine is on?

Going back to the flag thing- The flag is like that because it's supposed to be as if you're carrying a flag into battle, and the flag is waving behind you. All branches of the military wear their flags that way and I assume they do it on locomotives because it's a bit of a tradition.

you're joking, right? You must not spend much time around Genesis locomotives, because the original sound set is ripped from an EMD MP36 or something else with a 645F3 engine. I mean, in the end its all your preference, but please don't encourage that the old sound pack is better than what comes with the P32.

Ok I am no rookie on changing horns but some of these audio files are a little more complicated. Can anyone figure out how to copy this horn to the P42DC or any other Locomotive you would want to use it on. There are 2 different paths and 2 different horns. One I noticed is that inside the cab the horn sounds compleatly different than it does on the outside. The outside horn sound is the best default horn this game has ever had! So which horn sound is the outside soumd. Is it (My game path) C:\Railworks TS 2014\RailWorks\Assets\RSC\P32Pack01\Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\GE_P32\Cab\HORN (EX. P32DC_HornLoop.dav) or C:\Railworks TS 2014\RailWorks\Assets\RSC\P32Pack01\Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\P32DC\Cab (Ex. K5LA_loop.dav) I am very confused on this one. This is as confusing as a horn change like eyein12's audio files.

Please help! *!!thnx!!* *!!thnx!!* !!*ok*!! !*cheers*!

As the Dev for the sound pack, I'll help you out. Copy over every horn file and bell file, including proxyxmls. Then rename the proxyxmls to replace the old ones. Then you have to go in the proxyxml and repath the .dav files to the P42DCs manually.
there are 3 horns on the P32. External, Internal, and an Internal for the windows being open.

For everyone that wants a treat, open the windows over 20 mph and listen to the horn reverb off of near by objects.

So why is there 2 different CAB folders and what horn is it. Is it the K5LA_loop.dav or the P32DC_HornLoop.dav please look at my paths in my first post and let me know which one I need to do. Or is it both.
Thanks

Exactly! There's nothing 4-stroke sounding about the P42 DLC. More like the P32 sound needs to be put on the P42 to make it right. As for "in the end its all your preference" ..... that's kinda like preferring a dog that meows. !!bang!!

Anyways....I may get this in the future just to reward the fact it's got the correct engine sound. Well done! !!*ok*!!

No your right the P32 sounds better that the P42 in all ways. I should of drove it a little more yesterday before saying that.

I did a short test drive, experimenting with dual mode capabilities
Is that behavior prototypical?

1) DC power doesn't work when diesel engine shut off
2) When running on DC, sounds like RPM goes high with throttle advance

From my understanding, in DC mode traction motors draw current directly from 3rd rail (well, probably through some voltage converter) ,
not using main alternator output. So, even if prime mover is running, it doesn't affect power, and engine controller doesn't affect RPM.
On electric locomotives, engine controller affects voltage on traction motors , using parallel/serial circuitry or combination, and this one should not be an exclusion.
isn't that true?

So, basically there is no difference between DC and diesel power, beside impossibility to use DC where red lamp goes off

That's the thing with the mode changes; I don't think there is currently a way to code a locomotive to run on two modes via a single .bin file. Same thing with the M8s, since if you start out in one mode and change to the other, you lose some of the motor sounds in the second mode. I'm currently working on a few mod packs for this DLC, and this is one of the things I'm trying to address.

I noticed that the ACS-64 sounds when at low speeds is gone.
