I'm curious. Does this model keep a high engine rpm at stops like the real P42s? I can't remember which equivalent notch it is, but they supply HEP to the cars and idle very high when making a stop in a station.

Quite honestly I hope Anthony was able to get his engine sounds in there. Those are great sounds. Yes, the RPMs are rather high when HEP is turned on, but when turned off, it's rather quiet.

Reading slightly between the lines I'm not too sure this time if existing owners will get the update - This time the DLC is advertised as the Amtrak P42DC Empire Builder. I don't remember the original being described as the Empire Builder, and several UK-based DLC relaunches have had a slight variation in the description as distinct from the original DLC, in that case only the relaunched DLC gets the update and the original pack doesn't.

(By contrast, the Centennial was described in the same way as the original DLC, and the update was applied to all original purchasers. Much appreciated too.)

Not that I'm saying that this is definitively what will happen here, just that it's a distinct possibility.

As for the Empire name placed on here, my guess is they include scenarios for Steves or Marias; which the Empire Builder runs on.

Yes, Amtrak made the following Heritage Units: 145 (This one (Phase III)), 156 (Phase I), 66 (Phase II), 184 (Phase IV), and 42 (Veteran's Unit). These are all the Genesis heritages Amtrak currently has. There is only one Phase III P42DC, so you are correct.

For P42s, yes, but Amtrak also repainted P40DC number 822 into Phase III and the models look close enough that the P42 and P40 can stand in for each other.

They haven't said despite numerous people asking. We probably won't know until it is released.

P.S. If anybody cares about the achievements and already owns the P42DC, you can earn one for driving it even though it isn't listed yet

There is an achievement called "Amtrak P42DC Empire Builder: Amtrak P42DC Empire Builder Engineer." I earned this achievement for driving the P42DC from the original P42DC Genesis DLC that I purchased before it was pulled from sale.
