FEF-3 hotfix for air compressors
-----------------------------------------
I've been alerted to a bug that crept into the recent FEF-3 patch that caused the air compressors to remain silent while recharging the main reservoir. I've already found the cause of the problem and I expect a hotfix to be released soon.

The update is great, but personally, I miss the old smoke effects. The new ones seem so... Manufactured? The old ones were more realistic looking in my opinion. More graceful. That's my opinion though.

I don't know how many steam locos you've ever been around, but the new effects are definitely more realistic. I'm not equipped to judge their gracefulness.

Thanks for all the hard work Mike. Wonderful stuff.

I can hope for a 2-8-2, 4-8-2, 4-6-2, and a 2-6-0!

Why not another 4-8-4? N&W J class anyone?

Because we already have a great Northern most of us would like to see something else.

Not to get to far off topic, the N&W j classes aren't Northerns, N&W build and designed them in Roanoke

Oh come on how far do you want to go to make a stupid point? If I had said 4-8-4 would that have been better? Jeez.

i know they are 4-8-4s but they aren't northerns type, all I'm saying is a N&W j class would be an interesting add-on to TS2016 because we don't have that many streamlined American locomotives

Sorry to derail again but....

Not to be a smart butt. The name Northern just means a 4-8-4 in general, such as the connie, there are two 2-8-0's out there (one not available anymore), both are connies but are totally different and built by different shops.

That's right. The name "Northern" was coined because Lima delivered the first 4-8-4 to the Northern Pacific in 1926. Some railroads preferred to use their own type names for the 4-8-4, such as Dixie (NC&StL), Golden State (SP), Greenbriar (C&O), Niagara (NYC), Pocono (DL&W), Potomac (Western Maryland) and Wyoming (Lehigh Valley).

Just a little caveat though. UP themselves didn't call the FEF-3 a "Northern", they always referred to them as "FEF", but the marketing men (at ALCO, I think) gave it the "Northern" tag.

I did look into doing the N&W J-Class, no. 611, but it was going to be prohibitively expensive.

Why? Because of copy right reasons?

The cost of the drawings and royalties on sales.
