Definitely. Even if they dont touch the track, just update some of the older buildings, cars, facilities etc. I started, but have run into difficulties with 2 bits of extra track I laid around the roundhouse and now cant get anything to join. About to get lots of free time soon so am going to have another bash. What are the rules regarding uploading? probably a no-no *!sad!* Even if DTG charged a nominal amount, with a pretty good UP steam roster now, it would be easy money (but then there was HSC and the ideal opportunity to see more DLC if they produced some more PRR steam but they couldn't be fagged. Sent an artist all the way to Strasburg PA for 1 loco.
Maybe we should start a petition. I bought the FEF to support Mike, but will probably never run it without a proper home. Personally, modern routes just do nothing for me...

Past 1953 was when track 3 was built. That's fine for the mid fifties, but the buildings and signals and yards need the most work. I'm beating a dead horse I know but new Challenger and 4000 class. At this par of the FEF-3.

Is anyone able to pull the whistle cord using the mouse and have it function properly?

When I'm done blowing the whistle, the whistle cord will not return to its off position and stay there. If I push it back up, it will stay for about 1 second before it starts blowing again and there is no way to stop it**!!bang!!** I don't necessary think its an issue with this model as I believe I've experienced this problem before with the G-Trax locomotives. Anyone know a fix (other than just using the space bar)?

That being said, Mike you have truly out done yourself here!!!!!! This is not only an amazingly detailed model but preforms just as she should it real life: VERY IMPRESSIVE!!! Can't wait to see what rolls out of the backshop next!

Thanks Mike :D

I haven't been able to reproduce that problem with the whistle cord - I've tried it with the HUD and Adv versions, but it works fine and once it's off, it stays off until you deliberately pull it again. Have you tried tapping the spacebar? I seem to remember reading somewhere that it can get a stuck whistle cord to go back to the proper resting position.

By the way, you might have noticed that in the HUD version, the whistle cord doesn't swing. That's because it has to work with the HUD whistle button and that turned out to be incompatible with the way I make the cord swing when it's not being pulled but then straighten out when you pull it.

I'd love to see another fifties route. Let's hope some talented route modeller (or team of modellers) gives it a go.

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure if I would have the patience and stamina to do another big project such as the FEF-3. It took 20 months from start to finish (including the long wait to get it released, which I took advantage of to put in a bit more functionality and realism, and to do the Overland liveries). I can see why nobody else would spend that long on one loco - it's exhausting and far less profitable than other projects.

That said, if I do attempt another loco, it'll have to be to the same standard as the FEF-3. I myself wouldn't be satisfied with anything less, regardless of what people now expect from Smokebox.

I'm sorry, I din't mean you exclusively, but the backdated route would be so much cooler than the modern one. The steam facilities were so extensive!

I Just want to report I have the same problem with the whistle. As soon as I click the cord it gets stuck open, which it did not do in the beta. What should I do to see what's going on next time I run old 840 (tonight)?

This sounds like it might be yet another error in the packaging of the release (like the QD consists that shouldn't be there). I can't reproduce the problem - it works fine for me. Can you pm me these two files so that I can compare them with mine and see if they released the right ones?

See if you can talk Marc (Hack) into doing a ScaleRail version and then we can go from there taking it back to the fifties.

Sherman Hill is scalerailed. He's the one who laid most of the track.

You are correct sir. I got so used to looking at those ugly concrete ties I forgot that Sherman Hill is in wood.

So let's take this off topic conversation off of Mike's FEF thread and start with some pictures over on the route thread of what things looked like in the nineteen fifties.
