At the track level? Yes it is somewhat common. There is some pics and videos of it on the net. Snow usually falls at the higher altitudes, so snow-capped mountains during the winter is pretty common. But it does get down to the lower altitudes sometimes. Depends on how many storms the pass gets and how strong they are during winter that particular year.

The Highway 58 on-ramps near the pass have gates to stop vehicles getting on it when it's closed due to a snow closure. A friend of my sister tried to go over the pass during a storm a few years ago and got snowed in. Every car and semi truck driver on the high parts of the pass, had to sleep in their vehicles overnight until they could plow the roads. And most people were not dressed for it. So it was a long and cold night for them.

Forgot to drop this reference material here for scenario builders to use. Should come in handy:

Mind you, this is a WIP and certainly not inclusive - but it’s getting there.

I'm not sure where to ask this question - here or in the TS2021 section. Is there a patch out yet for branding the locos in Tehachapi Pass? !*don-know!*

It's back on page 4

Here is something that should be a accurate match for this loco. Just unzip and put into the ES44AC_BNSF Engine\Textures folder.

Yes, going down the first grade I couldn't slow down to the permitted speed and got something like - 3000 points. I remember something like this happens on another route using this loco.

Not to be snotty but I have run this route quite a bit and have not had this happen. Is this a particular scenario or what?

Scenario Hot Box Part 1. Loco BNSF ES44 DC. About 20 miles out from Bakersfield you go down a fairly steep incline and using the train brakes you cannot stop it from overspeeding it doesn't matter how much train brake you use.
