I can highly recommend the GTX780 with 3GB GDDR3 (or if you have more to spend, how about a GTX970 with 4GB). With my old GTX295, I would struggle to get 30fps on some routes, with no V-sync and only FXAA + 4 x MSAA. Now, with my new GTX780, I run with half refresh rate adaptive V-sync enabled, 2x2 SSAA, 3840x2400 resolution downsampled with DSR to 1920x1200 - absolutely fantastic picture quality - and still get a solid 30fps (I think it's fixed at that because of the V-sync).

It should do much better than that. Have you set the AA and AF options in the Nvidia control panel to "application-controlled"? Apart from that, I used to set the draw distance (in the game's graphics options) to minimum (it still looks good). I'd keep the shadows on maximum.

I'm getting a laptop with a GTX860M quite soon. You think that would be comparable?

News:

The packages have finally been signed off by QA, so even though they haven't been released this week, at least things are moving in the right direction.

I have a laptop with a GTX675M and that worked very well indeed (highest settings for everything except for AA which I'd leave on FXAA + 4 x MSAA) until the card stopped working. I'd assume that the GTX860M is even better.

If I turn all the game settings on minimum and turn everything in the control panel on performance-like I can get 30 fps.

The website has some UP Diagram Books for sale; I'd recommend clicking the navigation till you hit the UP drawings. I'm half tempted to buy some of these and get something started...after my PCF Economy Baggage Car, though.

These are what is called in RR'der speak as folio sheets. These are meant to give general ideas about a class of car. Knowing how detail oriented MRennie is, he would be hard pressed to create a model that matches the individuality of the 844.

Justin's right, those folios don't have the level of detail that you get in the builders' engineering drawings that are used by the machinists and engineers in the erecting shops to build the prototypes.

Here's an example. This is just one of the dozens of drawings I bought for the FEF-3:

I suppose they might have something like that for sale with regards to passenger equipment?

I've seen front and side elevation erecting diagrams but no detailed diagrams for the trucks.
