With my route I had to start logmate and low and behold I found errors I had made in my route. It seems that TS2014 is a bit more strict when it comes to say a bad route marker blueprint... I mean who needs a route marker? Especially one that I made?

Seriously though. It made me take a long hard look at how I have things set up in my route. I have a lot of repair work to do, and the end result will be a faster loading, less bloated model.

My initial installation problems seem to have been solved. Each time I did a game integrity check,it said 111 files needed to be updated. It makes sense that the server was just too busy,as my last attempt 12 hours after the initial install worked. I can now access my route, and the 3rd party routes I have tried. I have to say I LOVE the Google overlay tools! I configured the API key,and it works like a charm. The opacity key is great. They did think this one out. This will make route building so much easier. I am thrilled! The only thing bothering me is frame rates appear LOWER on my route when I am moving around in edit mode. And that is with Google off. Anyone else seeing that on their route,or 3rd party?

+1

They did put some thought into this upgrade. PolyesterMafia and I discovered a lot of improvements in the just the BPE while scanning over the GP40 for problems last night. Making complex blueprints like for locomotives is a lot less painful now. For example you now have full access to the values in a Matrix, whereas in the previous version it was just X/Y/Z. You can also copy and paste items (like controls or children). Also, you can have multiple blueprints open at one time (tabbed). The log file rich with more information, and is more readable.

And the list goes on... I am sure some will blog about it before I can get to them all.

From RSC Facebook page:Some of you that upgraded to TS2014 have asked about the Steam exclusive content being made available as individual DLC. We're happy to say that next week we will be releasing this content on Steam to purchase separately! The Steam exclusive content includes the seven mile Sheerness Branch and Southeastern Class 466 for London-Faversham High Speed, and an SD70M diesel locomotive for Donner Pass. Make sure you check back here next week for more news about this additional content.

Thanks, Papa, for mentioning LogMate. Hadn't thought of that. *!embar*!

Now bug hunting to make the COARW v5 with my C&O signals running again. It suddently worked on my laptop with TSX still off. Now trying the big gaming rig.
A tip I got fron UKTS is to clear your asset and route folders of all junk caused by unfinished or borked hacking attempts, etc. No GeoPcDx.xml files etc should be left, only the regular .bin, .xml, .GeoPcDx etc, so at no to confuse the blueprint loader/cache.

This was a problem (and rightly so) with the old BPE. If you left XML snippet files around in the source folder then it would choke when trying to load them. I learn this the hard way when I thought that leaving my XML transform files with my source package was a good idea.

This is a good thing though. If TS2014 is doing more consistency checks with the routes and models then it means that its less likely garbage files will make it into the Steam workshop.

Just to let you know I believe Vern's Raquette Lake route should now be available from the Workshop.
"Life is like a journey, taken on a train
With a pair of travelers at each windowpane.
I may sit beside you all the journey through,
Or I may sit elsewhere, never knowing you.
But if fate should mark me to sit by your side,
Let's be pleasant travellers; it's so short a ride."

Where is that located in the real world?

Vern the "Vocal" Northern Warrior? Then it must be in Scotland ...

I''ll wait a while loading your and Vern's freeware UK routes if you don't mind. First I want to sort my freeware US routes out.

Highball!!! I think I have the COARW v5 sorted.

Look carefully over your Kuju/RailSimulator/RailNetwork/TrackRules folder. Delete PONtrack.bin and probably the rest of the Ottojunk right along with it. PONTrack.bin was pointed out by LogMate very early in the loading stage. There were only 4 .pak blueprint caches generated at that time, Toripony.pak was the last.

I am going to have to look and see what's there when I get home since this route loaded fine for me yesterday and again this morning.

Guys,

As just one example of the reason some third-party routes won't run, have a look at the Assets\Kuju\RailSimulatorUS\Scenery\Characters folder before and after the upgrade. A lot of stuff has been removed and presumably moved elsewhere. If a route needs what used to be in there (and a lot of other folders in Assets\Kuju\RailSimulatorUS) it's going to have problems. Obviously RSC knows where they moved them and adjusted the DLC to look in the new location but, as usual, they're not telling.

I see several people posting that their third-party routes run okay. I suppose they have come to that conclusion by trying to run them. Just because they actually run doesn't mean that all of the assets are there.

Bob.

Buzz, it you never have installed Otto's track changers, probably very little. PON stands for Port Ogden & Northern.
A lot older freeware and all of TDWolf routes depend on Toot's tracks and stuff. While they are not necessarily bad, they mess with default stuff.

Edit: I have examined that PONtrack.bin, and it turned out to be a dummy trackrule, nothing was defined in the blueprint. After removing this file, COARW, P&LE, NSAND all work like they did under TS2013 the previous day. I have redone P&LE in ScaleRail last year,so none of Otto's tracks are missing.

So here is one happy hogger. !*roll-laugh*!

Now where is that promised TS2014 eyecandy in my favourite freeware route?

It depends on whether the assets were moved out of the old provider folder or just put into a new package file inside it.
In this latest case, the game should find the assets, whereas external programs such as RW-Tools will not.

Yes, and since Mr Simpson and RSC are not on speaking terms anymore, there hasn't been a 2014 beta send out to Mr Simpson.
So now he has to rely on his own ingenuity again to make RW_Tools work with the .ap files and the new serz.exe and what else more.
