Buzz

I must have missed the "Head Light Fix" announcement. What is that about? Is RSC going to retro-fit Lighting Enhancements to the DLC fleet? That would be too much to hope for.

Head Light Flares when looking at an approaching Lead Locomotive Head and Ditch lights, from within the 'cone of illumination', would indeed be a cool feature. As would adding Glowing and Shining head lights to all the older DLC...

I was referring to the YouTube which was posted before 10 AM. I then saw the Engine Driver post come over the RSS feed.

I like the improved draw distance and the light flare. If I had to venture a guess I think we will see a more efficient core engine which may translate to slightly faster load times and FPS. We saw this with last year's update.

I hope we will be hearing more news as the countdown continues.

The best part of the upgrade to 2014 is that it comes out on my birthday! !*YAAA*!

I will be excited to see more details about the graphical upgrades that were mentioned.

So in other words, we will have to wait for each existing locomotive to be updated before we see light flare on them, it wont be automatically on all locos.

Sorry guys, but I'm giving this a +1

I am not so sure about this. Let me take another guess here. I think what will happen is that they will change how the current emissive shader is being drawn. This means any of the locomotives which RCS (and thrid parties) have already update would not need to altered.

The same for the draw distance. Routes which have distant terrain will see a improvement without any changes to the route itself.

I am going to stay positive about all of this because I know that people (in general) hate reinventing the wheel, and with last year's update nothing broke.

My response is completely neutral. We're getting it for free, but nothing that I want updated, is being udpated (physics, AI, dispatcher, performance). So for me, when asked if this upgrade is good or bad, it simply is.

I'm happy with what's announced so far. People have been calling for increased draw distances and we have them! Most other things (Dispatch and Multiplayer) would require a base code rewrite which could take years to make work with current content and not grenade anything hence no change yet. And whose to say these yearly updates and patches aren't just to keep people happy while they write new base code?

They've done a good job so far and I'm ready for TS2014 !*salute*!

Has it occurred to you people that they're slowly trying to phase out repainters and 3D adders? For example the textures on newer locks are getting harder and harder to paint.

I agree, if all those ungrateful fans got what they wanted with multiplayer & more they would probably be complaining that it took too long to update. *!rolleyes!* Since Donner is going to be upgraded (again), I'll finally get it, maybe even for a low price.
