Care to be specific on what's so bad about it? I gave a list of some of my problems with it..... but worse than a WIP?!? That's pretty over the top. *!rolleyes!*

I found an interesting minor discrepancy on the route. They put a railroad access road just south (east) of Tunnel #3 that goes up to the south (east) portal of Tunnel #5. That's where it used to be located and the way it is currently seen in Google sat images. But that access road was closed back around 2017 due to the huge washout in the southeast half of that horseshoe curve. The new current access road starts at the north (west) portal of Tunnel #5, curves around the mountain and up to the south (east) portal of the tunnel. This new road can be seen in the newer Bing sat images.

Also noticed that Google sat images doesn't show the 1000ft Cliff siding extension yet, but it appears to be there in Bing.... although it's harder to see than in Google.

Not a big problem, but my keen eye caught it. !!det!!

You may not get an answer - his comment didn't seem to be about specifics, it appeared to be all about being seen to have a "view" (based on someone else's video, not on a purchase of the route).

Can I ask the question again though (thinking about possible omissions) - I am confused - is there no longer the white cross nat the Loop?

I've been told I made an error in the consist, and have updated the QD file.

With weather set to rain, you won't make it to the top with 11 units or 33000 Hp! Despite continuous sanding, the train will stall in the steep sections with the many curves, like between Beale and Cliff, or around Marcel.
Do not know wether the stock DP Tunnel Motors or the tank cars have accurate physics.

Did SP add some pushers to help the Oil Cans over the pass in adverse weather?

They ran cans at 6 sets of 12, with 4 units on the pin, 5 cut in mid train

With the GATX TankTrain cars I made, and all of our 40s, I can make the grade in dry conditions at 17 MPH.

The cross is still there IRL. It was placed to honor those that died in the 1989 San Bernardino runway train derailment. It just so happened to have occurred on my birthday. Although it occurred about 140 track miles southeast of the loop, they decided to honor them on the most iconic part of the crew’s regular route.

My guess is this was either an oversight (most likely) or they simply wanted to avoid religious symbols on the route in a world where somebody might be offended.

Anyone have a decent picture of the cross? I would add it to my copy if I could find a decent picture to get it about the right size. I for one am not offended by a cross.

Agreed - looked kind of naked without it being there.

I haven't looked yet but I was going to see if there were any white assets that could be resised and combined to make a cross - or, is there one hidden within assets but unused...

Here is a quick hack to get rid of the UK light rail track, replacing it with RSC/Sherman Hill track on concrete ties.

Since the Tehachapi assets are packed in an .ap file, you can expand the included archive on top of it, where the .bin file will take preference.

Perhaps the ballast shoulders are too narrow, the ballast itself isn't the pink crushed granite favoured by BNSF, though the track is owned by UP.
And obviously, it is way too clean. The prototype tracks is dark with rust from the metal particles scraped off wheels and railheads, plus smeared with black at the many flange lubricators.

Here is a webpage dedicated to the cross and the monument. CLICK on the thumbnails to get the really high resolution versions of the pics. The word "Employees" on the plaque at the bench is the words that were vandalized that we tried to fix. The Cal Railfan group meet up we just had Memorial Day weekend inside the loop had a couple of talented model train painters. So they cleaned, repaired and re-painted the letters the best they could.

Couple things to add....

There are 2 AirBnB places on the pass near the tracks if you want to visit and be close to the action. One is at the same house where the Cable live cam is streamed from. It's around $125-$140 a night depending on if you get a deal on it or not. It is way up on a hill looking down at the tracks below.

The other one is at the curve just east of Tunnel #10 (just past the loop) and is about $70 a night. It's at ground level and you can see trains right out your windows. The loop is a short hike up the road from it.

They just broke ground on the new loop monument expansion on Woodford-Tehachapi road. I cued the clip to the spot where the drone video shows the groundbreaking. It's gonna cost $150K.

Ground breaking....

I wonder if someone with the knowledge might provide a patch for the cross at the loop? Yes, I'm another person who is not offended by a non-burning,
and right-way-up cross. *!!thnx!!* Thanks for the links, GSkid.

It's only my opinion, but I don't believe that anyone who is playing train simulator could complain about a piece of historical accuracy - simulators are supposed to have some degrees of accuracy after all! Tehachapi is a route in the USA, a country where the cross is abundant.

Last time I checked, Cristo Redentor on a mountain above Rio de Janeiro in Brazil hadn't been cancelled out of Flight Simulator, and that is a most impressive religious symbol.

Well we just need the cross - that could easily be placed and the relevant tile copied to either zip up alone or be bundled with the cross asset.

I’ve noticed a large uptick in views of my 2+ hour Mojave to Bakersfield Coast Starlight detour video since the launch of this DTG route. My only guess is that the rivet counters are using my video to see how accurate the route is. !!det!! !*don-know!*
