Wait. "Lid lifting"?

Unread postby 5292nate » Wed May 08, 2013 8:57 am

OK. So late last week, RSC posts on their facebook page the following message.

"Join us this bank holiday weekend for our in development special where we will be lifting the lid on some of exciting new content which is coming to Train Simulator over the next few months."

So the usual speculators write about their DLC wishlist and what they're sure it will be. SO here's my question. When is this "lid lifting" going to happen? Did it happen already? I can't find anything on the engine driver blog. Any help? I do not want to miss this!

Sweeeet! I'm curious as to the content! Wouldn't it be awesome if they did another graphical update? I can dream can't I? Seriously though.... anybody think they will do another major sim update this year like they did last year? It was workshop, graphics engine optimization and 360 controller support last time. I wonder what's next on their update plate in the future. !*drool*!

Bear in mind. There may not be any new North American content underway at all. They seem to like the euro trains.

"Exciting new content" to me does not mean new RW improvements, but more DLC.

And besides that not true. We have a lot of content for US stuff.

Indeed, Buzz.

I wish first of all for RSC to build upon and consolidate the routes already available.

More PRR steam and Diesel locomotoves, passenger and freight cars for the Horsehoe Curve.

A possible extenstion of the NEC to New Haven, with those SEPTA/NJT commuter EMU's and Amtrak. Or perhaps the Jersey City Hudson river front? Or the Harrisburg line?

More Santa Fe locomotives and trains for the Cajon Pass. I wouldn't mind a 1950's version with the San Berdoo engine shops.

More Southern Pacific ditto for Donner Pass. Rotaries come first!

More Union Pacific for Sherman Hill.

More GN/BN locomotives and trains for Maria's Pass. BNSF can be shared with Cajon Pass.

That leaves only CSX and NS out at the moment, plus all of the Canadian carriers.

Most Diesel locomotives and car models can be used in appropriate paint schemes on all of the above routes.
Steam locomotives are railroad specific, UP's FEF is in the works, a Santa Fe 2900 class and 2-10-2 would fit in with Cajon Pass.
Union Pacific turbines are specific and essential to Sherman Hill.
But ALCo PA's EMD E-units FM's and Baldwin Sharks could be run by almost any road given the right paint schemes.
Same goes for GP40's, U-Boats, ALCo Centuries.
More generic freight car shapes, heavyweight and standard lightweight passenger cars that can be run anywhere.

No more fragmentation, no more white elephants please, RSC.

Sorry guys to be the bearer of bad tidings, but you have missed it - the long weekend referred to the UK Spring Bank Holiday weekend which was last weekend. All of the "Under Developments" items are detailed on the "farcebook" page, but here is a summary;

A4 Pacifics (6) in conjunction with the big real life A4 get together this year (including Dwight D Eisenhower from the museum in Greenbay)
LNER J50
LMS 3F
that is it for the steam, and no US content

BR Class 40
BR Class 31
GP20 in UP and GN livery
SD45 Norfolk Southern
German BR423 Railcar set

I would happily pay for some more age appropriate assets - buildings, cars, people etc to enhance the steam routes. Still waiting on the promised new sound set for the Big Boy set. Maybe they are waiting till 2020 and the restoration of 4014 to record it live. Would also love to see rotaries and other steam age assets for Donner Pass (even a Donner Pass steam age route - re-release a tweaked version with age appropriate assets, signals etc. I know I am just whistling against the wind, which is why Tori's wonderful COA route is mt go to route when I get the chance to enjoy some RW time. That has it all...

!*cheers*!
