Some prototype photos with the U36B.
This is where they came from:

Can we run the AutoTrain in our game? Safe for the closed auto carriers, I think every car is available, including the Super Domes.

PS: Massachusetts Call Volunteer Firefighter's Association (MCVX) has her training train piloted by this loco, which is actually an empty shell.

I like those pug nosed U-boats.

To answer your question about if it looks like it would be all right for a re-paint I would say off hand the answer is yes so you can expect a gray version (family lines) down the road a piece.

SCL actually bought 39 of these things as well as the ones that came from Auto Train.

Nice article here.http://www.american-rails.com/ge-u36b.html

Now this is interesting:
AutoTrain caboose with wind powered generator,
AutoTrain auto carrier with cupola substituting for a caboose,
and our subject, GE U36B putting a train together.

Those jolly and gay colours didn't really suit the U-boats, IMO.
Why paint that sand tower when your loco is all dirty:

But when spic and span, they had a certain flair:

Pilot variations to improve visibility, and counting aid for switchmen?

Notice the spot lights. Did it run illuminated at night on its transcontinental tour in 1972?

The last caboose I remember seeing in service on ex-SCL track was in the early '90s along the Aurburndale sub a few miles NW of Delta. I believe it was one of the old Auto Train units because the wind generator was what caught my attention. It seemed to be part of a maintenance train and was painted in a dull primer. I haven't seen a caboose in operation since.

But let's ignore all that to see who can complain loudest about the engine sounds .....

I have been listening to the various YouTube videos of the real U-boat prime mover sound. Is there anyone who has made a engine sound mod addon that can be substituted for the sound that came with the DLC U36B? The U-boats had a very distinct rumble. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U11J6Gx9520

I have uploaded a bell pack that includes a steel bell which should be perfect for use on the U36B. :D
