Aw yeah. I had been debating for the last couple weeks whether I should get the Surfliner or Stevens Pass, but after much deliberation I came to the conclusion of 'screw it, I'll get them both!'. I find it amusing the Surfliner is 40% off, but the ES44DC twin pack is 50% off so they're the exact same price anyway. I question the point of so many BNSF GEVOs which all seem so similar but for the same price I'm not gonna complain.

I might pick up the Empire Builder too, or maybe the RS11. Funny how my budget rises ever higher during every sale... *!greengrin!*

Why not just go the whole hog and give it all away free, and while we're about it, give everyone who buys something a free meal, to prove that there is such a thing.

I picked up the Pacific Surfliner. I was fairly impressed, but like “At the Railyard” I gave it an 80 plus score.

The scenery detail was nearly excellent. Even though I haven’t been in the area for several years… the LA core region seemed spot on. I don’t claim to be an expert, but I’ve run the LA / San Diego corridor (interstates) 8 or 10 times a year for 18 odd years and I thought a few places were lacking in detail. Specifically the Tustin / El Toro region. Things started to improve by Laguna Nigel and the coastal leg to San Diego.

I was tickled to see the Nuclear power plant, the I-5 truck scales at San Onofre (even though it lacked the immigration checkpoint). The I-5 rest areas appeared to be in place, but I felt that Camp Pendleton just looked like an apartment complex. I would liked to have seen some military vehicles and possible a few choppers… either hovering over a Marine exercise or parked on a hardstand. This would have helped to define the facility.

Automobile traffic could have been heavier... this is Southern California, but I understand the sim constraints.

Overall… I was only a tad disappointed… however, glad to have only spent $24 for this puppy.
