That jet engine sound of the engines is called "flanging" in the audio world. It's the same sound sample played twice or more at the same time, with each playing slightly out of sync with each other that produces that characteristic whooshing sound. A very similar effect is called a "phaser". Basically sounds that are audibly out of phase with each other.

Krellnut's sounds for the ES44 and SD70 10-packs were made to eliminate this by having sounds from 10 different prime movers of the same type. I hope RSC does this in the future and maybe even add more sounds to existing DLCs to get rid of this annoying effect. The fact they did it on this pack has upped my interest in buying it.
As for the flashing ditch lights? Yeah... it's not the first time someone at RSC or whoever they contracted out didn't do their homework on DLC. I wish RSC would present the models and sounds to the Railworks community in at least a Youtube video before it's release date is announced. That way us rivet counters can help them get it right the FIRST TIME around. Just imagine a world were RSC doesn't have to pull DLC or send an update to fix it. It would be in their best interest in time and money to involve the community as DLC is being made. Not get the feedback once it's already been released.
In fact.... I'm gonna email them with that suggestion. Hope it goes somewhere.
