I'm able to play RailWorks 3 with
everything maxed out graphic wise, and I do mean
everything!My Specs:
Wins 7
64 Bit OS
8GB DRR3 RAM
AMD Phenom II x4 955 3.2 ghz (Quad Core)
Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 ti
What really helped was the upgrade from 4GB to 8GB of RAM.

Yes Indeedy. Keep in mind though that this PC was build for gaming, so I'm sure it's optimized to handle heavy graphics demand.

I hear about people getting such good performance with those specs but I still struggle with mine.
AMD Phenom - X4 810 (2.6 Ghz)
16 GB - Gskill RipJaws - DDR3 - 1600
GeForce GTX670 - 2gb
Windows 7 - 64bit
OS on a OCZ vertex 3 SSD
Yet I still struggle to get good performance. I am considering moving to an Intel I7 for the desktop.
My laptop is considerably faster with Railworks. (usually double the framerate on the same settings)
Intel i7-3630QM
12 GB - DDR3 - 1600
GeForce GTX675M - 2gb
Windows 8
The only obvious difference is the CPU so that's why I think I might go I7.
I have been hunting to tips on recommended settings for Railworks but haven't found anything clear. I feel like I should be able to get better performance on the desktop. I can run almost every game at highest settings and get 40-50fps but not Railworks.

I have the 650Ti and it runs the game almost always wide open with no stutter. Not exactly sure what the Ti does but this thing rarely gets anywhere new the yellow on the meter.

The CPU could also be a choke point, mine is 3.2 GHZ, yours is 2.6 GHZ

Ok - I bought a 3.4 ghz AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black to replace my 2.6 Phenom. Hopefully that will give me the boost I am looking for. Changing to an i7 in my desktop will cost 5 times as much as the upgrade I did.

Daniel, read the replies to your other posts in the other topic.
Cor, I have the Phenom II 970 Black quad, a GTX 670 1Gb, 8Gb RAM and Win 7 64 bit. Runs RW like a dream. I think the Hz in the CPU may be the difference. It certainly isn't the video card. I presume you are running all else except the O/S on a mechanical drive, there is always going to be a stutter when the next "tile" loads, or AI traffic shows up. And is anything, like A/V running in the back ground?

I feel like I have hijacked this thread lol. I change from the Phenom II 810 2.6GHZ to the 965 @ 3.4GHZ and it has made a world of difference. On one scenario I went from 15fps to 65fps and the Smokebox consolidation went from unusable on my desktop to 30fps. 800Mhz made a huge difference.
