One cool video of a videogame!

Unread postby thecanadianrail » Mon Mar 11, 2013 12:36 pm

So I have been playing the game WarThunder a lot lately and they recently have shown a fan made video of the game and I thought it would be neat to show everyone who hasn't seen it yet! (possibly maybe someone would be encouraged to do it on a route for rw or something along the lines like that?)

(no matter how hard I try I still cant get the youtube videos to work **!!bang!!** )

Like this. Go to the Youtube and copy the actual link from your address bar. Start new post. Click the Youtube button and it inserts two tags, the begining tag and end tag. Paste the url in between the tags and remove the s in https://

Is this an online game? Is it on Steam?

Got a link? My second favorite thing to do is fly. I have joystick, throttles, pedals and a yoke.

http://warthunder.com/

here's the link to the main page, just be warned its a fairly big game...although if you can handle RW on your rig you should be getting good fps on this. in RW I average between 14fps-40fps, in war thunder I average around 60fps

nice thing about this game is its got dynamic weather, night flying, and a lot more I cant even begin to explain!

Would you guys mind if I move this over to geek speak since it doesn't have anything to do with railroads?

If you like flying, then let me warn you not to expect too much realism from this sim. It's flight models are quite arcade. It is pretty though!

well it depends how in depth you would like to go, there is a full realistic mode included for only experienced players, but they did leave out a lot but remember this wasn't intended as a 100% aircraft simulator, down the road when they do some updates they are planning to add navy's and the army's (well back in those days the air force was part of the army but you all know what im talking about.)

I know what your talking about, USAAF. It looks real nice and I do not mind an arcade style game. If I need real simulation I hop in PMDG 747 or 737 or MD11. Nothing can touch them as far as real goes. And all 3 are $270 with addons.

Yeah, I was talking about the full realistic mode being pretty arcade. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying not to enjoy it. I'm just saying it's not a simulation of WWII air combat if you don't have to manage energy and the aircraft don't really fly like aircraft. It can be a lot of fun, but it was the poor flight dynamics that kept me uninterested. I never could like the flight dynamics of IL2 either, and that's a better simulation. Rise of Flight has about the best flight dynamics of a combat sim. I've spent several years flying that one.

As for realistic though, Bob's right. Hard to beat the PMDG offerings (I have the NGX and the J-41). And A2A's stuff is very, very good as well.
