The heck with Black Friday. I stayed at home playing video games. Now, today, I scored some serious upgrade stuff from New Egg! !!*ok*!!

New Gigabyte AM3+ motherboard, Phenom II 970 Black Edition and 8Gb of DDR3 RAM. This baby is gonna scream. And for only about $300, free shipping.

Now I can go and get a cheeseburger or two! !*roll-laugh*!

Ohhhhh, finally threw it all together today. Yeah, had a few Bloody Mary's a few Hail Mary's and about 4 hours of doing backup which I didn't need it turns out. (no, no celery, please, but throw in at least 5 green olives, and a dash of Tabasco)

All I can say is WOW I'm getting twice the frame rates all over. And all I did was increase RAM to 8Gb and up the freq to 1866. OK, new board and new CPU but not that dramatic so I thought. But this is amazing! Didn't even crash my RAID 0. Runs like a top. Did I mention, it's fast? !*salute*! !!*ok*!! **!!bow!!** !*cheers*!

I'm getting 10 to 20 frames boost on every route I have tried (don't have NEC so don't ask) Still running last year's video card, too. OK, I need to do more testing on Don's Deluxe route. Bye bye!

Wow, that is a great performance increase. Nothing like getting new pc hardware, there's something magical when you fire up your favorite simulator after an upgrade. Man, reading your post has me wondering, should I upgrade my mb and RAM plus CPU ?

This is your fault Arizonachris **!!bang!!** *!greengrin!*

LOL, seems it's always my fault. !*roll-laugh*!

But, before you throw out several hundred bucks, realize that it it a crap shoot with this sim! Some guys have i7's clocked way faster than my CPU and dual graphics cards and get worse performance.

Don't upgrade for RW, upgrade because it's time to upgrade, that's what I finally did. I went from socket AM2 to socket AM3 (to run DDR3) a little faster CPU but mainly the RAM speed and quantity. I wanted 8Gb. That would have cost about $250 for DDR2. The new board and RAM was less than that, but I threw in a new CPU as well. I could have used the old Phenom II 940 but it's 3 years old, and I have pushed it hard. Time to move on, I guess. I'm just glad it all works! !!*ok*!!

I'm glad it got such good results for such a modest investment for you. Hit the sweet spot, it seems. Congrats!
