Windows 11 Notepad Issues

Update Edit:

Is anyone else having issues when closing the new Windows 11 notepad? When opening a .txt document associated with instructions on installing reskins notepad opens with a bunch of tabs and will not close without having to make decisions to delete, keep or cancel. After doing research I found that uninstalling the new version of windows Notepad will allow the old version to open by default without the tabs. I did try setting to open in a new window in the new version but that did not solve the issue. I created a shortcut from old Notepad.exe and put it on the desktop and placed it in the system tray.
!*hp*!

Yes. I find the tabs very annoying. They keep accumulating and once you realize there are too many, it´s late and you got a lot of work to delete all of them.

I have deleted the new Windows 11 notepad from programs and created a link from Notepad.exe in Windows programs to the desktop. No more nonsense. Too confusing to use Notepad++

I wouldn´t care if there was a way to delete all the tabs with one command, but there isn´t such keystroke.

At the top right of Notepad is a settings icon.

You can change the behaviour of Notepad there, for instance not to keep old content.

See attached.

After uninstalling Windows 11 notepad it cleared the notepad cache. After a reinstall I immediately changed the settings to open in a new window when Notepad starts. Now no tabs. Thanks for the help.
