I just purchased a new ViewSonic VX2728 LED gaming monitor and all I can say is wow. It makes TSC look like a new game. This is a budget monitor and for its price, it is good at what it does. It is still only a 1080p monitor but you can change the refresh rate from 60HZ up to 185HZ. My old monitor was stuck on 60HZ. It also supports FHD and HDR. It comes with 2 types of connections 2x HDMI and 2 x Display Port (DP) connections. The monitor comes with a DP cable. DP is meant to be better than HDMI. It also says that it eliminates blue light. I was nearly going to send it back because at first I didn't like it but playing around with Windows settings etc I have got it to my liking. You can also change it for different types of games and internet use but the way I have it set up I just leave it on one setting. It also has built-in speakers but I have them turned off and use my Logitech ones.

What version of the VX2728 do you have?

I know there are a couple of different models but mine is just a VX2728 although on the box it says model number VS19277. This is where I got it from in NZ. https://www.computerlounge.co.nz/shop/p ... ng-monitor. I paid $286.09 NZ for it in their boxing day sale not the price shown.

I found a reboxed/refurbished VX2728J (comparable specs) for $149.00 US and ordered it. Update, had a notice from Amazon that it wouldn't ship until sometime in March. Canceled and ordered a new one. This will replace my current ASUS V248 @60Hz I am using for my primary monitor. This is an economical budget step up. Thanks for the heads up and performance report. I have been thinking about updating my monitor for a while since updating my graphics to a RTX 3060 12GB. Going with the 24" one because of space.

My old ViewSonic monitor was about 10 years old. All my flat screen monitors have been ViewSonic which this is the 3rd one. The first one was an LCD screen and the other 2 LED.

Being a victim of computer envy I now have one of these Viewsonic monitors on order for to reasons. One is for TS and the other is to see if I can see the numbers easier when I am watching my grandson play hockey on the streaming page of his games. In any event will report back after I get it.

Just look at the contrast between the cloudy part where the loco is and the sunny part ahead.

As far as I know screenshots do not depend on you monitor.

"A screenshot is an export of data that already exists in RAM being used by a video card or eventually destined for a display device. Typically this data is in the format a PC graphics card or other display device expects. When it's captured, it has to be converted from this format to a well-known image format."
Essentially it is saying that the screenshot is in a digital format that is taken from and stored on your GPU before it gets to your monitor.

By upgrading your monitor you are better able to take advantage of the quality that has always been available from your GPU.

From another source:
"Capturing the Output: When a screenshot is taken, it captures the output of the GPU, which represents the current state of the visual content being displayed on the screen.
Saving as an Image File: The captured output is then saved as an image file, such as a PNG or JPEG, which can be easily shared, stored, or printed."

Gaming quality has always been limited by the weakest link in the chain. Whether CPU, memory, storage, video devices, or internet access the underlying common denominator has always been speed. The faster the better.

At 7 degrees outside today, sometimes I have nothing better to do than to educate myself. As always with shipping things here to Alaska. My new monitor went to Seattle then to Anchorage then back to Seattle and now due for delivery on the 24th.

The new monitor showed up at the post office today. Brought it home and hooked it up. Adjusting the finer details.

Yes, everything is a lot sharper even wrinkles on older people in photos show up which you didn't think that they had. Make sure that you download the 45-page manual for it from the Viewsonics webpage the one sheet of paper manual you get with it is pretty useless. Give yourself time to get used to it as I was nearly going to send mine back but after doing some adjusting I now like it.
