New Computer

It looks like I'm forced to replace my desktop computer. I've had it a long time, but the existing issues are just too many. I would appreciate your recommendations on a replacement.

You will get all kinds of recommendations on this. This is what I am running, Intel I7 9700K, ASUS Z390-A MB, X5 PC Liquid Cooling, ASUS GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB, 32GB Corsair DDR-4 3200, System: Samsung 970 EVO 500 GB M.2 drive, TS2020: Samsung 500 GB 960 EVO M.2 drive. This runs the game well for me. The CPU is running at 4.7Ghz, and memory at 3.2 GHz This is relatively a lower wattage CPU and is easier to cool and the M.2 drives allow faster loading of the game and files. The MB suports 2 M.2 drives. The GPU is a bit outdated but usually runs at 60%-70%. Frame rates are depending on the route density and can be from 20-100 FPS. The average is 30-40 FPS. I am happy with this and have no issues running TS, TSW, or TSW2. I have absolutely no cooling issues. The CPU can run without liquid cooling but I would recommend a high efficiency CPU cooler and good case ventilation. I would recommend at least a 500 W rated Gold power supply, I am running an 850W gold. It took me few months to research and put this together. This all fits in a E-ATX case. Note the MB does not have onboard Bluetooth or WiFi.If you need this then you will need to swap these over from your old MB or if you do not have them purchase them if needed. The big thing is MB and CPU configuration. Start with a MB and CPU configuration first and work from there. See if anything can be used from your old system. Your Windows 10 version can be ported over without having to repurchase. When you get your MB and CPU figured out look for bundles. Amazon, Newegg, B&H Photo, Memorystock, and Tiger Direct are places to begin your search.

And so the saga begins.......

I upgraded in December last year to an Intel i5 10600k CPU now superseded to an Intel i5 11600K CPU and a GTX 1060 6 GB graphics card with 16 GB of ram see the rest of my specs below. This runs TS2021 very well at max settings on most routes. Here is a short video driving the LGV in France on max settings that I made. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwGuw70DO3Y

I would go for an ATX motherboard something like the Asus TUF 590 MB like the first one which supports an Intel CPU. The CPU I would get would be an Intel i5 CPU as I have said I have an Intel i5 10600K which has been replaced by the 11 series so which is currant right now but the 12 series is not far from coming out. i5 12600K. 16 GB of DDR4 ram should suffice. Graphics card maybe keep using your old one or buy new. I prefer Nvidia based cards. You still might be able to find some 20 series cards around like a GTX 2060 or higher if not you would have to buy a 30 series card like an RTX 3060, 70, 80 or 90 which are quite expensive. Of course, you will need a case an ATX one plus drives and the best way to go is with an SSD or 2. Samsung SSD seems pretty may a 1TB or 2TB one. The price of these has come down quite a bit like a couple of years or more ago what you paid for 250 GB back then can now buy you a 1TB one. Anyway, that is my **!!2cents!!** worth as I'm pretty sure other people will have other ideas.

Although this is from New Zealand I would be looking at something similar to this. https://www.computerlounge.co.nz/pcsyst ... 95009f2892 or else you can buy components and put it together yourself.
