S.M.A.R.T. Technology

All my drives are monitored by S.M.A.R.T. technology software. This uses the drives built-in monitoring to provide fault information for the software to read. I have an older 4TB HDD that I use for document backup as well as backups of Railworks. I received a message that the drive was reporting read/write faults. This gives me time to order and replace the drive before it fails. If you have access to this technology I recommend that you use it to prevent data loss from a drive failure. I use Argus monitor (paid). This also allows me to monitor temperature, program fans and monitor every physical aspect of my system. It runs about $12.00/year but worth it. You can use it for 30 days to evaluate.
