How can I make TS run better?

Unread postby Brickrail782 » Mon May 21, 2018 3:01 pm

My computer can barely handle TS, even at its lowest settings. Computer specs: Processor:AMD FX(tm)-4100 Quad-Core Processor 3.60 GHz. Installed RAM: 8.00 GB.

Forgot to mention GPU?
Try turn off Dynamic Shadows, Dynamic Lightning, Adaptive Bloom.

Your CPU is from 2011 but it should be able to handle TS. Until a year ago I run TS on a first gen i5 with a gtx 970 on max details.

So it seems your graphics card is the bottleneck. If your GPU is as old as your processor you'll need a new one.

I am running an AMD A10-7850x APU, which should be comparable to your FX4100, with a Nvidia GT960 GPU 2Gb texture memory, 16Gb RAM on my rig and it runs great. I get the 40 max FPS, in most areas of most routes, which is choked deliberately. FPS suffers when nearer to congested areas of scenery, but that's to be expected. I haven't seen my FPS go below 20 with any route and that's with the FXAA at 8 and anisotropic at 8, Dynamic clouds & Lighting enabled, the rest of the sliders are at Default levels. I'd have to say, like the other fellows, you need to upgrade your Graphics card (GPU). I hope you get things figured out TS is a great simulator... !!*ok*!!

That's almost for certain your problem. You need a serious update.

The GTX 650 is a bit old and an update would boost your performance but if you don't max out the details its playable.
I have the 650m in my laptop and with the following settings TS runs at 25-35 FPS on most routes. The desktop GTX 650 should be a bit more powerfull than the mobile one.

I only used borderless for the screenshots. On my laptop it only uses 70% of the GPU if TS doesn't run in fullscreen mode

The last three settings help the most.

Thanks Dan, I'll give those options a try while I look into another GPU, on another note, the settings I tried earlier seem to be working. My FPS is into the upper 20s in densely populated areas and the upper 40s in more sparse areas, the only drawback is that headlights no longer illuminate anything, which could be a bit of a problem for night driving. :/

Just re-installed most of the Searchlight mod packs and noticed that in some cases, the throttle controls are extremely sluggish, mostly on the SD70MAC/SD70Ms. I'm not sure why. !**conf**!

Sensitivity of the controller can be adjusted via Sensitivity settings I think so I read somewhere in RWA.

Known issue, hence we're updating all packs prior to the 645E.
