Rash of spambots

Unread postby Bananarama » Sat Jan 27, 2018 4:45 pm

I’m seeing a rash of spammer/spambot registration over at my forum, easy to spot once they’ve submitted their info, but hard to stop, as it seems they can get around my challenge question (now changed).

Bob or Buzz, have you seen an unusual number of goofy registrations on RWA lately? The maintenance of pruning these bozos is getting on my nerves. *!rolleyes!*
Cheers!

I whacked 2 of them last week. One was a bout the life as a hara chrisnah and all the beliefs. Another was selling plates. The N3V forum had 7 last week. From porn to pots&pans. I guess they are getting smarter.

Guess they have nothing to do until the 2018 elections.

Were two of them Boris and Natasha? I heard they were heavily involved in the last election.

Several went thru the anti-bot detector on my website for my youtube channel. They then contacted me and whenever I would open the message, it would redirect me to the "Critical alert from microsoft" page. !!bang!! !!spank!!

Why do spam-bots need to invade train simulator forums of all things? I would think they would just keep hunting down mainstream social media where all the money and click-bait is at. !*don-know!*

Mainstream social media apps have better protection against bots.
Hundreds of thousands of forums are relying on old or shoddy forum software and have little staff monitoring them.
They still reach tens of millions of users, so they are a juicy target.

And that's why I had my stuff removed.
Because of unequal rule enforcement.
Politics aren't supposedly allowed on this forum. Clearly they are...

I think when humor is involved a little light touch is allowed.
