The rumors are true.
MS is trying to force Windows 10 on Windows 8 and 7 users.
They are sneaking the change in OS' using the normal update process.
If you really want control of things, you had better change your update settings to manual and check every one of them before installing.
I've got friends on another forum confirming all this with screen shots showing two different ways MS is trying to sneak Win 10 on people.
The other way is scheduling the updates without the PC owner's permission down in the taskbar icon.

It doesn't surprise me that the guys at my mountain biking site confirmed this. There are tons of people on that site that were startup programmers in Silicon Valley.
It started out as a local site for Bay Area mountain biking, started by computer geeks and ballooned into the most popular site for mountain biking in the world.
There are tons of brainiacs from NASA at Moffet Field, Cal Tech, Silicon Valley, Stanford, UC Berkley and places like Livermore and Sandia Labs, etc there.

I think you are talking rubbish as I have a friend whom I have just spoken too who is running Windows 7 and has had nothing like that happening on his computer. Anyway what's wrong with having Windows 10 as IMO is the best OS MS has put out since slice bread. I have virtually been running it since day one with no issues. Had one major update in November which made Win 10 run faster. There is another major update coming soon which I'm looking forward too. Windows 10 boots up faster than my ADSL2 modem and I always get a screen popping up saying not connected to the internet.

This is from people that really know their PCs and they posted screen shots proving it IS happening. I know these persons personally and know they aren't some trolls on the internet.

Please don't make an opinion based on what hasn't happened to your friend.

Lot's of people have had issues with Windows 10 and had to go back to 7.
The problems being caused entirely by MS insisting on updating drivers whether a person wants it or not.
Those that know their PCs in an intimate way, know that when it comes to drivers, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

I have never had any of those problems whatsoever. My friend knows what he is talking about and so do I. Have had computers for over 30 years. I still say what a load of rubbish. Scaremongering. I always update my drivers and never have any issues in doing that. Yes windows does try and update your drivers if you don't keep them up to date yourself. This is not just a Windows 10 problem but has been happening since Windows XP.

Yes it is a Windows 10 problem, not all PCs like all drivers. Many PCs and laptops need factory specific drivers not generic ones supplied by Intel etc.
I've seen new drivers backfire more than once on PCs running different OS with different hardware over the years.
Anyone that I know that's been in IT, programming etc knew the forced drivers would eventually cause issues. I've even had a couple of Nvidia drivers sneak by me over the years in Windows Update and foul my system up.
I don't believe you know that much about PCs...

There are more than a few complaints around the internet and within my technical friends of Windows 10 borking their system with an incompatible driver. They in turn reinstall the correct driver from the disc for their Mobo or GPU and everything is fine, then Win 10 reborks everything by forcing the crap driver right back on again. This is especially true of laptops.
Most of those people gave MS (Win 10) a chance for a couple of months but then went back to 7.

Everybody is entitled to there beliefs. You are being ludicrous mate as I said I have had computers for over 30 years and fix my own. Never taken them into a shop to get fixed. Anyway you don't know me and I don't know you so how can you make such a stupid statement.

That's interesting Trev. You don't know me, or my friends and yet you are calling us, in so many words, a bunch of crazy liars. Most of whom are former (retired) professionals from Silicon Valley itself. I'll put that knowledge and start up experience up against your 30 years of home repairs any day.

One of the guys that found out what is going on, is someone I know that is responsible for computer networking in the U.S. military. You're basically saying these people are all off their rockers and making all this crap up.

Another one is someone that still gets calls to look at new Mobos with problems. Problems that the company's high price engineers can't figure out... I've never seen my buddy Rich take longer than 30mins to figure out what the problem is on those mother boards.


I do believe that even Arizona Chris went back to Win 7.

Another words, it's not just MY opinion.

I should add, not one of them dislikes the desktop, just the miscellaneous problems caused by the driver updating business.
There are significant complaints about 10's spyware. Keystroke loggers in particular are a huge security breach, and yet MS built one right into Win 10!

Well I have 3 systems running here. Two have Win 7 on them. They both have the little icon to update to WIn 10. I have not and am not updating them to 10. No back door updates have come through in all this time. We also have 7 computers at work. All are running win 7 or Vista and there is no plan on going to 10 with any of them either. My personal system is new and came with win 10. I turned all the phone home stuff off and have not had any problems with it either.

Updating drivers is a normal thing we all have been doing for as long as we have owned computers.
