nm or nmc

I have a question for someone of you learned folks out here. What setting determines whether your game is looking at the nm texture or the nmc texture in these models that use this method?

Buzz. I use to think it was in the level of detail setting but I think it depends on what your graphic card is capable of. **!!2cents!!** Low end cards will read the nmc.

I don't know a whole lot about them, but when you give a graphics file the "_nm" suffix, it's telling the game not to compress the texture file. The result is that the Asset Editor exports both an nm and nmc file. In my workings, the only time i've ever used an "_nm" file is on highly transparent objects such as windows. Having no compression seems to eliminate the appearance of speckles or dot on the windows.

I think you are right about this but where is the whatever that decides this? Is it somewhere in the card settings or the game setting or what?

I copy the nm to the nmc file or vice versa and have seen no differences.

There was a long conversation about this with the Britkits models. I am trying to find the thread. Depending on your in game settings it will use the nmc vs nm.

I have everything cranked up all the way and one of the downloads from the kiddy krew would not show properly until I loaded the nmc changed by me which the uploader had failed to change from the original texture.
