Under $200 monitor for gaming/everyday use

I'm looking for 23-24inch 1080p with some nice color. I've looked at a lot of brands but I have no idea what to choose. If anyone can help me out, I would appreciate it.

Maybe you should get one yourself on Black Friday. I had one myself with Acer 23" monitor and is not bad. I know the others are better than Acer like LG or Samsung or Asus or ViewSonic. Go to Best Buy store if you live near this store to check it out.

I have one of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... -_-Product which I'm happy with. I'm told that the bigger your monitor is you need a graphics card with more memory. 2gb is alright for 24" monitors but over that a 4gb card might be needed.

Larger monitors make the aliasing problems worse.
Good brands in the price range are...
Acer
BenQ
Asus (Some in the gaming community are saying Asus has really dropped the ball lately)
LG monitors are usually good, but sometimes the picture quality is sub par. Don't buy a LG monitor unless you can see it working first.
HP monitors are very good and overlooked. HP was one of the companies that set the standards used for sending signals to monitors. (HP tends to use glossy glass)
That being said, HP monitors are very good, even when equipped with a TN panel, they maintain a pretty high standard for color and viewing angles.

I'd stay away from sub $250 Dell monitors. Dell has some of the best monitors in the PC business, but their sub 300 dollar ones are iffy.
Also stay away from House Brands.

I have an ASUS monitor at present, I've also had BenQ and Acer in the past, and can recommend any of those, they're all very good.
Depends on how you will obtain it, by shopping in a local superstore, or, online shopping such as Amazon. I think online you will get a much wider choice with lots of prices to suit your budget, it all depends on how quickly you actually want it, of course, shopping around surfing the internet can take a day, or, two, you can pop down to your local store today and carry one home with you, it's your choice.....

I've just had a quick look on Amazon USA for you and a 24 inch ASUS monitor is approx. 160 dollars, so, have a shop around, as someone said it's Thanksgiving weekend, lots of sales and cheap discounts at the moment.

IIRC, only their low end consumer series uses glossy screens and the rest are anti-glare, but I haven't looked at HP monitors in a few years. (I'm still happy with my HP LP2475w.)

Regardless of the monitor of choice, your best investment is to carefully read the warranty and the store's return policy fine print.

I've been really happy with the Samsung LED monitors. I have a 24" for my gaming rig that was on sale for $120. Also have two at work.

Monitor size doesn't matter, the resolution of it does when it comes to video card memory. Also how many and how high of level of graphics effects you use eats up memory even at lower resolutions. I have 4GB VRAM and although I've never tried it, GTA 5 will allow me to apply enough levels of effects that will go over that amount of VRAM in 1080P! I'm assuming it does so by using your main system RAM for swap outs or as slower buffer. They don't recommend it of course... yet still allow it.
