I bought an EVGA GTX 750Ti, which has a Display Port output. The videocard is connected to a 21" monitor, running at 1920 x 1080 when playing TS2015.

For some reason, the picture quality of TS2015 using a Display Port connection can't compare to the quality using a DVI connection.

Has anybody else had experience with Display Port?

Yes, I just checked, and it's 1920 x 1080. The picture is equal in clarity to DVI, but I can't seem to get the same combination of brightness and contrast. I tried adjusting the monitor, and Nvidia control panel, but still not as good.

Yeah, misread what you typed. Post a picture of what the game looks like. Also play with the setting some and see if that changes anything.

One possible cause is a poor quality DisplayPort cable. The one that came with my UHD 4K monitor gives me sharp and crisp images. But when I attempted to substitute one I bought at a local discount shop, the image was poor. All DisplayPort cables are supposed to be equal according to their web site, but I think there are cheap ones out there that don't meet the spec. .. just a possibility ...

Other than the lack of AA, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong, the colours seem fine and everything else does too.

The cable was purchased from Newegg, and had good reviews.

What video card do you have connected to the 4K monitor?

I have the AA set to "FXAA" and anisotropic filtering is "X8." Any suggestions here?

Try bumping it up to smaa 1x or 2x it will drop the fps but that seems like it's your problem.

Posting normal screen captures is pointless. They are captured internally from video display memory and won't represent the actual output to a monitor. You would have to use an external video capture device. Taking a picture in the dark of the screen also might give us an approximate idea to compare DVI to DisplayPort ...but only just that. Cuz focusing would be an issue (Manually... auto-focus is out of the question) and exposure (a dark room exposure will introduce some low light noise).

There are 3 components of which there might be a possible issue here. How well the graphics card outputs through the DisplayPort, the cable quality itself... and how well the monitor processes the DisplayPort input Vs. how well it processes DVI input. I personally have only used composite, S-video, RGB, VGA, component, DVI and HDMI for video output in my life. I only know DisplayPort's specs and characteristics based on reading the white papers on it for years. I personally only use DVI and HDMI myself. I'm quite satisfied with HDMI and use it the most.

If you hook it up to a different DVI/DisplayPort monitor and it continues...then try a different cable. If it persists, then it's either the graphics card or just the nature of the DisplayPort spec. Maybe there is tweaks in the DisplayPort drivers that can be made.

DisplayPort is technically the best display standard out there. It even has a higher bandwidth spec than the latest HDMI 2.0 standard. But that advantage is only good for up to about 10 feet of cable length. Any longer of cable needed and HDMI has the advantage by maintaining it's bandwidth for up to about 33 feet of cable length.

My EVGA GTX 750Ti has HDMI, DVI, and Display Port connections. My Samsung monitor has VGA, DVI, and Display Port connections, but no HDMI. Based on this, I'm not sure where we're going, although VGA should be showing up less and less on monitors, graphics cards, and onboard video.

Since a "good" picture is based on so many factors, including eyesight, room light, monitor & video card, it would seem "good" is definitely in the eye of the beholder.

I don't know as I don't have two identical monitors out of my three to test it but I prefer DVI. Think about it, HDMI is a wimpy little cable that also has to transmit audio which I don't need. I wish I had 3 DVI ports on my GTX980 instead of HDMI. I really don't know what the difference is, wasted space in my case. I believe Display Port can only output to 1920x1080 which shoots me down as I run 1200.

HDMI v2.0 and DisplayPort v1.2 do higher resolutions than 1920 x 1080. Both will do 4K resolution at 60Hz. The newly released DisplayPort v1.3 ups ante to 8K resolution at 60Hz and adds adaptive-sync standard so no more screen tearing or video lag in games. It's likely only a matter of time before HDMI's next version standard matches it.

DisplayPort does have the advantage of a lockable push button plug so it doesn't detach from the monitor accidentally. I prefer HDMI's non-lockable plug. That way if a cable is tugged or tripped over, it's less likely to take down the monitor off a desk or stand. I also like the fact that HDMI has a much larger adoption rate than DisplayPort. Just about everything in the world outputs or inputs with some form of HDMI cable. Unless the HDMI standard stops updating and evolving, I see no need for me to get DisplayPort.

As for HDMI's wimpy cables and no need for the sound sent over it? It's a plug....what signals it sends that you don't need is of no concern. DVI has less resolution and capabilities than HDMI. It's on the way out.

Display port has the capability to run high res 4K content at 60 hz, which is about as high a res as you can get.
