Software Distributor Rant

Like everyone here on this forum is mostly a consumer of sorts.

This is about a popular Software Distributor that admits to doing wrong, and does nothing to correct its wrong doings.

I ordered TS2013 directly from their website and I made sure it was TS2013. What I recieved in the mail was not TS2013, but TS2014.

Merchant admited to sending wrong product to consumer (me). The only excuse that they offered is that Steam Automatically updates TS2013 to TS2014, I belive that is CottonWadding; I've seen people stop it from happening and playing TS2013 with SteamOffline so it doesn't update it too TS2014.

I admited to opening the product and activating it online, but..... even after that was said via email. I had advised the Merchant twice that the packing was opened. Merchant agreed to send correct product when they receive the wrong product back.

"But if you want to return it you just have to put in a return request. Once we receive the game back we will ship out another one." - Merchant

Consumer advised that product was on the way back, then merchant says that they cannot refund or do exchange.

I then receive confirmation from ****** Post that they have received the incorrect merchandise. Via Tracking and Signature upon arrival of package.
Merchant, does not respond to emails or phone inquries from me. Purposely ignoring the consumer who believes is in the right, no wrong doing.

I know the merchant is wrong, but can't they just offer me a discount for the correct software at %50, they are still getting money?

Oh well, since I have a very strong background in Point of Sales, I have launched a charge back with my Credit Card company.
If that does not work, I will proceed with filling a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and all the other orignizations that this Software Distributor deals with.

Keep you updated.

I believe that unless you loaded TS 2013 from disk, and then told steam NOT to update, then you will indeed get the latest version of the software - TS2014. Steam doesn't sell TS2013, does it?

Besides, what exactly does this have to do with Railworks America?

You may need to read the EULA which sets out quite clearly what RSC/DTG will do wrt to upgrades, etc.
I'm not sure what point you are making as TS2014 was a FREE update/upgrade to TS2014 and I believe that it did make TS2014 the better simulator.
This is a cloud game and its quite clear that it updates if you play it online.
Can you tell us why you don't like TS2014 ie or prefer TS2013 over TS2014??
Mystified? !**conf**!

I don't think that's what he was getting at. I think he ordered a disc of 2013, because that's what routes he wanted, but then they sent 2014 instead, which would include routes he didn't want.
I goes without saying, that the core game would update. Which is to bad, because 2013 had fewer graphical glitches in it, than 2014. It took months not the usual weeks or days to get it reasonable looking again.
The only significant improvement to 2014 was the fix for the game and scenario loading times.

It doesn't have anythg to do with RWA, but this is the geek speak forum, so I think his problem fits right in here. Since he got it from a non steam outfit, he may get his money back, because it is not what he ordered. Just going to be a lot of red tape.

I'm not sure I agree with this. I have found 2014 to be more stable in running the game. 14 never crashes on me.

I apologise to the OP I can see if you order a TS2013 DISC with specific routes you should expect to get it, but as Bob says it will be tedious to get reparation. My Bad! *!embar*!

I guess that refunds/replacements can get murky if you open and activate the product before you return it, but they could at least communicate with the OP.

IMHO TS2014 is a much better product than TS2013 - it releases RAM quickly on closing, it utilises the cores on a multicore PC a little more efficiently than its predecessor and I don't see as much VAS fragmentation in TS2014 compared to TS2013. Graphics usage wise they could be comparable, but I believe that TS2014 is visually superior to TS2013. (These comments do not relate to the usage of the editor/route builder, which seem to have technical issues wrt VAS and the desktop heap).

2014 is a better and more stable platform indeed, but the routes featured in 2013 were far better than what came with 2014.
