CyberPower Computers?

Unread postby Railroy19 » Sun Jan 26, 2014 6:38 am

Hi
Wondering if anyone knows about CyberPower computers. Have any comments or dealings with this company.
Need to get a new computer and they have some good looking machines for gaming. I always had Dell computers and been happy with them.
They have coolers now for the CPU not sure if I need that?
I'm more concerned about Transfering from my computer to a new one. I could get myself into a lot of trouble for sure. :D
Looking forward to some feedback.
Thanks,

Bob

I don't know about CyberPower something about them I never bought from them. so i went with I buy power. I have had two computers from http://www.ibuypower.com/ they are were good, I like when you can pick intel or AMD Case mother board and video card every thing in else, Custom Build, good for some one that doesn't have time to build their own.

I bought a computer from Maingear once and was very impressed with the build. I've never seen cabling done so neatly.

CyberPower has a good reputation. Seems like they have decent pricing, too. I don't use water cooling at all, my roommate has one of those closed systems for his CPU only and he says it's great, makes the PC nice and quiet.

Transferring from your old PC to your new one is easiest done using an external hard drive enclosure. Take the current drive out of your current PC, put it into the enclosure (which hooks up to the USB port on your new PC) then use Windows Explorer to copy/ paste what you want into your new PC. Or, if you are able, take the hard drive out of your current PC and install it into the new PC. Use Windows Explorer the same way.

Thanks to all of you for your input.
I will have to do some more exploring into what I want to get.
Now for transfering my old computer to my new one, from what I'm reading here from Arizona chris I could probably copy all the files from from my C/drive to the new hard drive I have installed in my computer that I have labeled K/drive because it has 2 tetrabites of space and I'm sure that is about triple the space on my c drive then I could just install that drive into my new computer.
Would this work OK?
Another thing I'm not sure about is I may not want to get windows 8 operating system. I don't want use my fingers on the screen to run the computer.
I'm comfortable using windows 7.

That would work fine, with the exception that you cannot copy Windows, or any other program, when it's in use. But your new PC will come with Windows installed so that's not a big deal. 2Tb should be more than you will need in a long time, for storage. Also, you should be able to specify that you want Win 7 instead of Win 8. Get the 64 bit flavor, too. At least Home Premium if not Pro.

I have a Cyberpower as an upgrade from my old 5 year old Cyberpower. Great systems!

Go with Win8, has the same desktop interface as Win7, the "metro" screen is optional.

Win8 is a better system. If you have a SATA drive from your old system, just get a SATA dock, works great for backup also.

OK thanks guys.
Learning a lot on here. I guess maybe I should upgrade to Win8 to keep up with the times.
My next question is, should I get the best CPU offer or just get the one they offer as standard for the computer I pick out.
They probably have the computer designed for the CPU they have on the board.
Also should I get an SATA drive also? Not sure what it's good for as I don't use my computer for much besides Trains and Trainz.
Now the cooling, maybe I should just get the bigger fans instead of water cooler.
This may be the last computer on my Bucket list :D

As far as a CPU, most here will say go with Intel (I'm an AMD guy, always have been *!!wink!!* ) A quad core over 3Ghz will do you fine. TS2014 won't even use two cores, let alone four. Try and get at least 8Gb of RAM, too. Water cooling is an option, but it's pretty maintenance free, fans you have to clean once in a while. You probably won't need another SATA drive, the new PC will have one, also more than likely a 1Tb drive. Just need to install your existing drive in the new rig, or as "hminky" suggests get an external dock/ enclosure. Graphics card is the last big consideration. Nvidia or ATI? IMHO, most here run Nvidia cards, they seem to handle TS best. GTX760, 770 are nice cards, get the 2Gb VRAM variety. If they offer a nice mid-tower like a Cooler Master HAF922, go for it. Lots of cooling in that little monster. I love mine. !!*ok*!!

Not to take away from what anyone here has said but the GTX650Ti card runs RW without a stutter and costs a hundred bucks less and supports two screens on my rig just fine.

That's my video card and it runs Railworks and Trainz just fine.
The computer I'm looking at has the 780 I think
and 16 mgs Ram.

Chris

.
Actually you can if you use a 3rd party software such as Paragon Migrate - I have used this on 3 machines now (1 had Win 8, 2 Win 7) and it worked without a hitch, and it transfers Windows on the fly to a SSD or other HDD.

BTW TS 2014 does use all 4 cores on a quad core machine albeit it uses Core 0 for the majority of the work but the other cores are used to a lesser extent during loading and running TS 2014. I use software called Process Lasso which does ensure that where possible all the cores on a machine are used. (measured with a Pertelian)
However, when I use extreme overclocking (>5GHz) - I disable 2 cores on my rig and TS2014 runs perfectly. It would seem that even though 4 cores are used - it may not be that using all 4 is any more efficient than 1 or 2. (If I enable Hyperthreading - then there is activity on all 8 cores 4 + 4).

Whew! That's gonna be just fantastic! For anything, not just TS2014!
!!*ok*!!

And thanks for that, pH. That program must run in DOS then, I have used Acronis for the same thing.

That was my next question! They offer the overclocking feature and I'm not sure I would need that just for Railworks or Trainz.
And I figure if the cpu makers wanted the product overclocked they would make them that way.
And I realy am on the fence about the water coolers?

I have one computer that is water cooled and everything runs way cool, which is good and I love how quiet it is. As we know when it comes to electronics heat kills so I recommend it. Particularly when you live in farm country with a wife who likes the windows open and a hairy dog.
