Well trev123's link does answer a lot. I use borderless for a couple reasons....
#1: Mainly because in this mode it effectively acts like a Vsync. I can't recall ever seeing screen tearing while in borderless, so it seems to work. Some people in that link report getting higher frame rates in borderless. But if that's the case, I've not noticed it. I may test that out to be for sure. Some of those claiming that are using older PCs.
#2: Borderless allows you to still run your scenario in the background (multitasking) while you surf the net in a browser or whatever other tasks you want to do. The difference in borderless window vs. bordered window mode is borderless keeps the sim running at full screen resolution in the background.
In full screen mode, the scenario pauses (although you can still hear the sounds looping) while you pop out to surf the net and the sim is no longer visible.
On the Windows 10 front...My laptop has a Realtek high definition audio chip with Beats audio. I prefer the generic Windows High Definition Audio Device driver over the Realtek one and the Beats EQ software. The generic driver is EQed flat by default (which in most cases I prefer) and it has louder sound output than the Realtek driver in it's EQ bypass mode. Especially when using my headphones.
Windows 10 appears to want to force me to update back to the Realtek driver, but a periodic notification tells me Windows failed to install it on it's own and that I need to install the update manually. That's good I get to keep it. It may force me to install it in the future when it's included with a bigger package of updates.... but at least it will still let me roll back the driver later.
