It wasn't installed yet. I had just installed the OS and was checking it's basic operation when that pic was taken.

Does shadow quality absolutely kill in-game performance? I'm trying to find the right combination of settings at the moment.

BP
If the slider is full right - I see some impact on frame rates (20 -30%) but NO change in smoothness. Less so now I use a GSync Monitor.
I usually use around the half to 60% mark and that does not seem to affect anything too much.
But experiment on some routes you may need less or more shadows.
I balance it also with the water to get the best visual and smoothness results.

Then what's all this talk about Nvidia and AMD drivers being forced onto the person's PC and fouling everything up? It's all over in the gaming forums.
Trev, do you have Win 10 Home or a commercial variety of Win 10? The commercial versions have more options.
Win 10 home users are getting boned.

Windows 10 Home. I am assuming that the problem could be if you don't keep your drivers updated by at least 2 versions when they are released by Nvidia or AMD that windows will detect this and install it. I think I might of experienced this in Windows XP after I missed a couple of Nvidia driver updates and the driver was sitting in the optional windows updates.

I will be assembling a new box next month, and the talk about the issues with Win 10 has me concerned. Will be using a 4790K cpu, Z97A mobo, and either a 980 or 980ti. Somebody mentioned that the 2D map is affected; i.e. blurry, multi image etc. Does that indicate that the 2D map is essentially useless in Editor mode?

Also, do you have to "delay" windows update and then decide whether to let MS to add a driver update or not? Is there an option to let you do your own driver updates? Does this auto update issue only affect older graphics cards?

If you do that you will get the latest driver with the card and if it is post the 350.xx series then you will get the 2D Map corruption in any operating system, Win 7, 8, 8.1 or 10. This is a NVidia/TS2016 driver issue not an OS issue, Windows 10 does NOT cause the issue - it merely updates any driver that you have on your PC.

To overcome the 2D map corruption with ANY NVidia driver - - open the NVidia control panel and just set AA-Mode to "OVERRIDE". This won't affect any TS2016 AA settings but will stop the 2D Map issue (EXCEPT in the editor). OR!! In TS2015 just use any MSAA setting (ie do NOT use any SSAA setting unless you use the override in NVCP). With a 980/980TI you should use SSAA settings in TS2016 to get the best visuals.

Windows 10 is essentially the same as Win 7, 8, 8.1 it just has different cosmetic interfaces and a few more quirky features. Its just an OS to run a computer! *!lol!*

To me...
If Windows 10 is forcing updates to drivers, and we all know that changing drivers when not necessary is a computer evil, then yes, Windows 10 is causing the issue.
Apparently it's only Windows 10 Home not the other versions.
So in my mind the update to 10 isn't really free, since they (MS) know most users will eventually upgrade at cost to 10 pro or Enterprise to regain control of their PC...

.
Sorry, that is incorrect *!lol!* , automatic updates are a feature of all versions - I run both home and pro.

You can stop automatic updates if you want and install what you want as and when.

Windows 10 did NOT cause the issue.
That is between NVidia and TS2016 and the problem has been reported to DTG and NVidia.
Plus it can easily be remedied in TS 2016 using the NVCP.

What is the NVCP? I think I had one of these but the handle fell off. !*roll-laugh*!
