I've just noticed a new folder on my primary drive named $Windows.~BT, which contains sub-folders dating between July 10 and July 30. So far, not a lot of content. Could this be the Win10 download in progress?

Yes I have that and is 1.02GB in size. Also have another with $Windows-WS and is 5.79GB in size. Dated 30th July and more than likely to your last question as MS said it would be downloaded in stages onto your computer.

I had problems with my system crashing on TS2015 boot. It was fixed by making the game windowed... but I do believe it was caused by my quad-cores. Unfortunately, LogMate never gave me good information, so I don't ever know what happened.

This started in Windows 8.1, but I don't know about 10. It's likely the same thing will happen if I go fullscreen again, as Microsoft has soooooooo many bugs with Windows 10, so I'm just waiting for the patches. :D

I'll keep this whole thread in mind when buying my new GTX.

Hi, folks:
Here's my experience with Windows 10 Upgrade after the past four days (your mileage WILL vary...).
Thursday 30-JUL-15: Upgraded my old Inspiron laptop as a test bed. I'm not using it for anything but testing WIN10. Intel i7 2nd generation 2.5GHz, 8GB RAM, GeForce GTX540M mobile GFX chip, 750GB SSHD. Install went without a hitch. I had to reinstall a compliant version of Norton Security Suite from Xfinity, new nVidia drivers from their website including GeForce Experience, and updated Razer Cortex Game Booster. Steam loaded just fine. Tried The Stanley Parable first. Then Elder Scrolls V:Skyrim. Those worked fine. (If you've never played The Stanley Parable get it on sale and have some stupid fun...)
Friday 31-JUL-15: Next I installed ETS2. It also ran well including transferring all my profiles and mods. Finally I installed TS2015 (probably the most intense test of the new system IMHO), and it ran well with limited GFX capacity. Had to run it at Medium quality with no dynamic weather or lighting due to the ancient mobile graphics chip. It ran well enough to convince me to try upgrading my homebuilt desktop.
Saturday 1-AUG-15: Upgraded the custom desktop (specs in my sig line) and tested all the above games and apps. Had to add the new versions of AV, Cortex, and Experience. All ran well at HIGH quality.
Sunday 2-AUG-15: Finally upgraded the Alienware laptop (specs also in my sig line) with exactly the same results. Been playing Skyrim all afternoon and having a blast w WIN10. Ran a 1-hour QD scenario on the NY-NH NEC line with no issues.
For my purposes it's been running just fine with everything I've thrown at it, including Office 2010.
This is my experience with a wide range of CPU/GPU/RAM/HDD combinations. For my money it looks like a robust upgrade that's simplicity itself to install and I'm glad I did it. Last thing is to upgrade an older HP desktop that my wife uses for genealogy and I just need to have a couple hours to invest on that machine. Apparently there are known issues and patches for the suites she uses as well so I'm hoping that will go well too.
As I said, my experience with the WIN10 upgrade.
Hope you have fun with it too! !!*ok*!!
Best, !*cheers*!

To see these you have to have show hidden files turned on.

I have that turned on -- otherwise I wouldn't be able to see these folders at all, presumably.

Well I've scanned the forums and some Dell users are having the same sleep mode issues as HP users. Nvidia has come up a lot.

I also found out my laptop stopped reading a newer SanDisk thumb drive of mine under 10 that it did read under 8 before the upgrade. The same thumb drive still works with my other win 7 and 8 laptops I own. I tried a few of my other thumb drives (including a different SanDisk) on my 10 laptop and they work fine. Windows 10 started the process of searching and installing a driver in each USB port I installed the newer SanDisk in.....but never showed up in "This PC" as even being plugged in so I can access it. My other thumb drives popped up no problem and with no need to find and install drivers. !*don-know!*

It sounds like Microsoft just needs to add some INF files, so the OS can "see" some hardware items, and/or some USB drivers need a minor update. This can be especially true if there are USB 3.0 ports on board and/or a USB 3.0 device.

My Windows 10 PC only stays in sleep mode for a couple of hours then turns itself on.

What nVidia driver version ships with W10?
Is the "9" screen still corrupted with using SSAA 2x2 etc?

That's usually caused by the settings in the networking stuff to wake the computer, or scheduled wakes to defrag etc.
You can and should turn those off.
In the networking driver you want to turn off anything like "Wake on LAN" "Wake on magic Packet" etc.

If you have Defrag turned on, you should go into the settings and set it up so it doesn't wake the computer for that.

Driver version is 353.62 and if you mean the tracks causing ghosting tracers when you move around the map...no.... the ghosting tracers appear to be gone.

Instead of a proper nVidia driver, WIN 10 gave me a generic Microsoft driver, possibly meaning that it failed to identify my video card correctly. After I found and installed the correct WIN 10 driver for my card, everything's working just fine.

Yes. I have read somewhere that DTG have been in contact with Nvidia about the issue. As a temporary fix set AA to FXAA+8xMSAA. I'm using the
353.62 drivers. I did the W7 to W10 upgrade so the 353.62 drivers were still used sort of, as I had to click on them in device manager to get them to work as already mentioned.

I am still confused. Do the latest nVidia drivers still corrupt the "9" screen in SSAA mode or not?

Would it be an optioneel to have the nVidia driver (which one?) do the SuperSampling and subsequent downscaling, and not Railworks, by switching off 'application controlled'?

My 970M equipped laptop has the W10 update ready and waiting, but I am reluctant to give it the Go.
