Bill, this is just modeling, or real life? Real life I made it all the way to a Tobago, nice, nice, great fun to fly, but expensive to rent. I do prefer high wings tho. 182's are great.

Those pics were from a flight sim (Prepar3D by Lockheed Martin).. I only wish I could fly for real.. Way to expensive for me.

Holy cow! After trudging through this thread (to this point, that is), here's a list of new requisites for RW:

1) Train wrecks, especially on distant planets or in the far future...

2) Weapons ... lots of weapons ... (for example, gunfights amongst passengers -- perhaps coach to coach in the outside views ...

3) Attacks on trains using lots of weapons that cause wrecks (it's about time Lawrence of Arabia got updated) ...

4) Monsters (not just zombies) that attack trains with lots of weapons and cause wrecks ...

5) Flying machines operated by monsters with lots of weapons that attack trains and cause wrecks ...

I'm sure there are a lot more requisites, but I have to drive a peaceful train on a quiet switching task (without wrecks, weapons, monsters, flying machines, etc.) ..................... No wonder my handle is Old Prof!

Sarcasism Mode ON

Old Prof, Excellent ideas. !*brav*!

In fact, having those implemented would mean we would need more realistic operating physics! !!*ok*!!

GaryG !!jabber!!

Sarcasim Mode OFF

Edit - I actually meant to say "...we would NOT need..." which is why the sarcasm was mentioned *!embar*! I completely ruined my attempt *!sad!*

RealAir, eh. Always did like their stuff. The models and textures are superb, especially their interiors.

Cripes, Bill, she is beautiful. May have to look into that sim. "Flight" just isn't doing it for me, and gave up on FS2004/ FSX a long time ago.

Gonna load up Crimson Skies. Dang, where the heck is my joystick?

I was paying about $40 an hour what they call "wet" meaning full fuel and oil, when you left. After that, you pay on your own. Insurance was included, as long as you were a member of the flight club. Instructor was another $35 an hour. But back in 1985, I was making a lot of money, so it didn't matter. Flew to Catalina several times. The buffalo chili and burgers are fantastic.

It's these little side trips in life that make your life special. If it costs me a few bucks, it's worth it. 100%. !!*ok*!! Oh, going on another train ride next week! Yay! !*salute*!

Prepar3D by Lockheed Martin is FSX.. Sorta.. Lockheed Martin licensed ESP (The commercial version of FSX) from Microsoft to continue development on it in a professional level. Hence the reason they aren't advertising it for `entertainment' purposes. You can grab an academic license, development, or professional license. Most go with academic and you get a barely noticeable water mark in the upper corner that says "Academic License". Academic users get free point release upgrades but not on full release. ie: We're on 1.3 now and the 1.4 update is due out soon, that will be free but when version 2.0 comes out (with full DX11 support) we will have to pay again.

Essentially Prepar3D is FSX repackaged for training purposes with `SP3'.. and 1.4 will be `SP4'.. Active development! It's about 99% backwards compatible with FSX addons.. Some have some issues but LM are committed to keeping full compatibility (without having to use things such as `compatibility mode' )
