My comments still apply.
TS 2014 needs a good cpu and it needs a good gpu even on medium settings.
Your cpu and RMA are great but the laptop will be throttled by a lowish end video card.
You have to remember that a lap top is not as powerful (yet) as a desktop and every enhancement helps..

This is what I have gleaned from the RSC website as to the minimum to optimum specs to run TS2014 reasonably well:

Quote:
TS2014 simulates a large game world and this puts more load on the CPU than games with more limited playing areas. To get the best frame rates possible you should use a Desktop processor such as the

Intel Desktop Core i5 series (“Sandy Bridge”, “Ivy Bridge” or “Haswell”);
Sandy Bridge
i5 2400
i5 2500
i5 2500K* recommended and above
i7 2600
i7 2600K
i7 2700K

Ivy Bridge
i5 3300
i5 3450
i5 3470
i5 3570 * recommended and above
i5 3570 K
i7 3820
i7 3770
i7 3770K
i7 3930K

Haswell (all OK)
i5 4670K
i7 4770
i7 4770K
and above

TS2014 requires a graphics card that supports DirectX 9.0c and Pixel Shader 3.0 or above. Most modern graphics cards, such as the nVidia GeForce GTX 560 or AMD Radeon HD 5770 conform to this, although some “integrated graphics” chips typically found on laptop PCs may not.
Although the game will run with 512MB of graphics memory, it is better to have between 1GB and 2GB, and a graphics card with over of 60GB/second memory bandwidth will also help.

GTX 560
GTX 560 TI
GTX 660
GTX 480
GTX 570
GTX 660 TI* recommended and above
GTX 580
GTX 760
GTX 670
GTX 680
GTX 770
GTX 780
Titan

Note:
For a SINGLE Monitor up to
1680 x 1050 you will need a card with at least 1GB VRAM
from
1920 x 1080 to 2560 x 1440 you will need a card with at least 2GB VRAM
Above 2560 and multiple monitors go for 4GB VRAM.
A good laptop will have acard with 2 to 4 GB VRAM

I would add that to run TS 2014 with very few issues you need Windows7/8 64-bit and 8GB of RAM.

I have no experience with AMD products so do not include them here.

Even if the GPU has TurboBoost?

I hate to say but its already been bought and its substantially better than the GT 540M I had before it exploded.

Make sure you have a good cooling pad for that lappy, Brennan. Heat kills the video cards in them. *!!wink!!*

Absolutely! Above all, spend $10 every now and then (once every six months is enough) on a can of compressed air and blow the dust out of the innards. You don't necessarily have to open up the laptop to do it - it's usually sufficient to blow air in through the radiator grill. Almost all the problems I've ever had have been caused by build up of dust and hair in the radiators and/or the spindles of the fans.

Already got one of those Coolmaster X3 Notepals. Shaves off about 4 C which is not too shabby.

Do you have an external drive that you can transfer files and "stuff" from the old PC to the new? If not, you may just be able to transfer using USB cables and Windows Explorer. Let us know how this new beast runs TS2014! Congrats, Brennan! !!*ok*!!

Runs around 60fps on Medium for everything except Shadows which is on low. However after about an 1 hour of running Railworks I get a Low Memory Warning telling me to shutdown the program and weird thing is my Ram Usage is around 60%. Should this be happening? Oh I have 6GB of RAM. I've never encountered this problem on Win7.

When you get that low memory warning, pause TS then bring up Task Manager with CTRL-ALT-DEL (that is if Win 8 still works like that) look and see what processes and programs are running and look at RAM usage. There could be something running in the background using RAM. 6Gb should be more than adequate. Even 4Gb should run OK. I will say, that with 8Gb of RAM, I have never had any warning like that with Win 7 and TS (or any other game) Even now, running Folding and using Firefox with 8 tabs open, I'm only at 29% memory usage. But I do make sure there is nothing else running. Could just be the case of getting to know Win 8 and what it likes to do on it's own. !*don-know!*

I fixed it. Turns out it was the leaky Nvidia 326.xxx Drivers. Updated them and doesn't reach 60% and when I exit I have 25% total usage.

I didn't like the new beta drivers, I rolled back and I use the 314.22's. Glad you figured it out, 25% is just fine. How are you liking Win 8? Does it run TS OK?
