This is called 'Z Fighting' and its caused by the artist using the same Z-Buffer primitive values for materials. The modeler can fix this by pulling back coplanar faces just enough where the faces aren't contending to be displayed.

FWIW, it's not at the material level, but at the object level. Increasing these values for subsequent LODs (greater distance between layered objects as you move further away) helps too, as RSC changed the way things are displayed in RW since 2012 (to better display track/roads above terrain), yet z-buffer issues are more prevalent on models. The worse I've seen is the F59PHi, but there are a few other models that come close.
Cheers!

I never had this happen until last night when I was playing with my settings, guess I'll turn a few things down again. Nothing bothers me more than flashy items !*hp*!

I have found that making one change see what it does then go back and do another makes it a whole lot easier to figure out what makes things better or worse.

It will do no good to explain what your settings are without knowing what video card you have and what the settings are on it.

@Mike, why don't you take a deep breath and experiment yourself? If he gives you his settings without the rest on the information, you set them there and it doesn't work, you will just be back on here telling us how it doesn't work.

See my comment above. Now you are asking me the same question aren't you?

Still working on my settings, but one thing I found out tonight is I get a lot of flashing when FOV is all the way in at 10%. If I zoom it out to 100% it's almost completely gone.
