Overclocking Q6600

Unread postby buzz456 » Fri Nov 25, 2011 11:44 am

Anybody know where there is info on overclocking the Q6600. My Nvidia 520 seems to be cruising along in RW however my CPU is running at 82% to 90% all the time with TSX turned on. Everything is smooth with it off. This is in a Gateway and the Bios doesn't seem to have anyplace to change any settings. There a tutorial for dummies out there? Oh yeah, I am on Win7 home premium 32 bit.

Well then you are pretty much stuck with what you have.

In the RW "Settings", do you have "Multi-Core" selected?

If so, unselect it and see if that solves your problem.

OK, that fixed that. Now the Q6600 is running between 35% and 50%. However my frame rates haven't changed any. They are still down in the teens. What I don't understand is that you can be sitting still and the darn thing is still showing 14 or 15. What the hell is it doing? You can point the camera view away from anything to do with the rail road and it still only goes up to 20 or so.

I think there is something in these latest routes causing a lot of this. I ran the IIR route which has been updated for 2012 and while the frame rates dip into the high teens once in a while there is no stuttering at all. I then went and loaded up the Big Horn which has not been updated yet and it runs at a rate of twenty five to thirty FPS again smooth as silk. !*don-know!*
