Barnez, this is the model:

Image

I can only compare it to my old Mobo: ECS MCP61-M3 NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE AM3 mtx Motherboard + nForce 430chipset, and all I can tell you is that the new pc flies compared to the old one. I am very happy with the results. Railworks seems to make it work alot harder than my other games, but is still noticeably better than my old setup.

Ya - that's the exact one I've been eyeing. Hoping to make my purchases soon - maybe going to have to depending on how RW3 cooperates with my old CPU ...

glad to know Gigabyte has again made a good board.

I wish the guys at RSC would post the system stats and setup of their machines. With all the issues posted on just this forum, it would be good to have a "benchmark."

For what it is worth, I picked up a used Dell T5400 from eBay for about 220$. But I have upgraded the video, hard drive, added a 2nd CPU chip, and added memory.

So for the 220 I got a case with an 875W power supply, motherboard, 2G memory, and one CPU chip. If I had bought parts and put them together it would have been more (and I really like Dell cases - very easy to work on).

Some of them are really easy to work on, others are just plain hellish. In my experience, anything from Dell that is white/silver is pretty easy, since they use standard parts. However, the 2000-2006 era back/dark grey cases are a major PITA. Generally, they will not take a standard PSU, sometimes the mobo is ATX, sometimes it is BTX, many of the mobos have proprietary PSU connectors. And the worst part is some genious engineer at Dell thought a single exhaust fan with a hood over the CPU's heatsink was sufficient to cool the entire case, and made no preparations for secondary fans.

You're gonna love that case, MJ. I love mine. Lost and lots of room, great airflow. Makes for a nice, clean build. Congrats! !!*ok*!!

I also realized two things in my post a page back showing my rig; I changed the CPU cooler to a Cooler Master Hyper 212; The Biostar board I currently have will not run the Bulldozer CPU. Losing my night job at the end of the month, not gonna be able to upgrade for a while, if at all. *!sad!*

Is there still room for both side fans with that CM Hyper 212? That's the cooler I have and I have 3 extra 120mm fans to put on the side and bottom.

You can put two 120mm fans on the side and two in the bottom. Or one 240mm on the side. I find the 240mm fans in the front and top, and the 120mm in the back sufficient for me. But, yeah, plenty of room between the side fans and that cooler. It's a pretty wide case.

Well it came today and I love it! So much room it's like having a full tower and temps are about 5c lower idle and 15c gaming very nice.

I think this card might be able to run TS2012 with no issues. !*roll-laugh*!

No offense, but that's not a gaming card: " design, animation and video applications. " Probably wouldn't run TS2012 any better than two GTX580's in SLI. (it would, however, run Folding @ Home like a mad man!)

MJ, that's one clean looking build. Glad you like the case. !!*ok*!!

Like mentioned above, WorkStation GPU's aren't designed for gaming, they are designed for crunching numbers and you'd seriously be wasting money to buy one for gaming as it'll perform the same as a high end Geforce card.

Yup. The only use for one in a game would be if you put it in SLI with maybe two 580's to run games that would actually need 9GB's of GPU Memory, but none, and I can guarantee you, none exist yet.
They exist everywhere. You may not see them, but they're there. Awww yeeeaaaahhhh, 20% Cooler! /)
