Computer Back up

!!det!! !*YAAA*!
Time to get off of my laptop. After a crash of my main computer in July about two weeks before a major move to Alaska it is back on line. I replaced the motherboard, CPU and one of the M.2 hard drives with the OS on it. The new configuration is in my signature. I had all other files on separate drives and only the OS on the system drive so data loss was at a minimum. Getting ready for the new Big Boy from Mike. So there is a definite improvement over the older system.

You should have got an i5 10600K which is faster and cheaper than the i7 9700K that's if you purchased new. https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/I ... 4030vs4072
Intel i5-10600K CPU, Asus TUF GAMING Z490-Plus (Wi-Fi) MB, Graphics Asus RTX 3060 TI 8GB OC TUF gaming card Windows 11 Home 64 bit, 16 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 ram, Viewsonic VX2728 LED 1080P FHD Monitor, Samsung 1TB SSD + other conventional drives, Corsair 750W PSU.

It was a birthday gift from my brother. When first shopping for parts this combination has been discussed and he purchased them and held them until my birthday. It works well.

I am very pleased with this CPU/MB combination. I have been monitoring my system while playing TS and the CPU cranks to 4.3Ghz and runs much cooler than my old 6700K. I have cranked my AA settings to almost max and the game settings as well. With my old GTX1060 6Gb card I am getting 40+ fps on the the most dense routes with several advanced locomotives and pieces of rolling stock running and very little stutter. A big improvement. A big thank you to my brother for this birthday gift. !!*ok*!! 8 and sand.......

That is good to hear. I do notice going from my Intel i5 2500K to the i5 10600K that the sounds are a lot better. An example is when another train was passing you the sound of the passing train would cut out but now you can hear both trains and yes I'm able to run at higher settings and also get less stutter.

Living thin on retirement. This combination seems to work quite well. My 1060 6GB is good enough for the game. TS gave me something to do with 5 ft of snow this Winter. There was a big improvement with this CPU. Thank you for your input on the subject.

Well, if you are testing on demanding routes, perhaps a trip on the most demanding of them all should be in order.

Of course, I am happy to hear about your new rig!

I am having a problem with my new computer. It says to press any key to start, I can't find the "any" key.

Just an update, since I have been running this new system I have not had one instance of OOM. The only things changed were the motherboard Z170 to a Z390, processor from a i7 2600K @ 3800 MHz to an i7 9700K @ 4600+ MHz. The new combination raised the memory frequency from 2800 MHz to 3200MHz. I replaced the M.2 for the system drive as a precaution but after testing by the manufacturer it is good. I was having OOM issues especially during editing routes when moving long consist blocks but rarely during scenario sessions. Draw your on conclusions from this.
