My nice new Linux install alongside Windows 7.

I'm using Mint 17.3 with Ubuntu theme Ambiance.
It took me a bit longer than usual to install, since the disc management software was just a bit different than Ubuntu's.
It came out nice.

Very nice! !!*ok*!!

I don't usualy install Linux natively but I have run it in virtual machines. I'm a little partial to Fedora but Mint is very nice. Keeping up with the versions is hard, because they seem to have a new one every year or so.

Mint used to be unstable, but is now using the long term release versions of Ubuntu as a core, so it's extremely stable now.
I've heard good things about Fedora too, but I haven't used it yet.
Truthfully, I really like Ubuntu and it's packages, but I don't like the lack of opportunity to customize where the buttons on the windows go, and where the launcher goes.
I've tried other versions of Ubuntu like Kubuntu, but they sometimes have issues still with screen tearing etc.
Maybe I shouldn't say that. I recently found out it's the live DVDs that have the screen tearing. Once you actually install the OS and find the right GPU driver, the tearing usually goes away.
I just found out this version of Mint doesn't work fully with Grub Customizer. I've got my Grub splash screen the way I want it, and the default boot order changed, but I can't change the background and highlight colors of the fonts. After digging around in the grub.cfg file I think it has something to do with both Debian and Mint having default themes in there already.
It won't let me edit it either. I open it as root/, then change the highlight and font colors manually, but the change won't stay through the next boot. IE it looks the way I want it, until the next restart. !*don-know!*
