Multiple Monitors

Unread postby ES44AH » Sat Sep 12, 2015 7:44 am

I have always had this idea of building a cab simulator. If I do, I think it would be really cool to multiple monitors around all the windows so I can see in front windows, side windows, and rear windows to really get the effect of "being there". Can this be done?

Thanks

Unless you are incredibly skilled with camera settings to change them completely, I don't think so, no.

The better alternative would be to get some sort of virtual reality devices when they come out. Steam has SteamVR, Microsoft has HoloLens, and Google (I think) also has a project, but in lower development.

Pretty sure SteamVR is close to release, and HoloLens are in a good stage of development. However, they are costly. I'm sure it'd be worth it, though... to get that immersion.

I've seen it done with this:

I don't know if it would still work.
It made your 3 monitors like one giant one.
Not exactly what you want but closest thing.

What I wouldlike is multiple windows in TS, so I could have the camera view on center screen, HUD on left screen and 2D map on right screen.

What about those extra wide curved displays now available?

Can one set a custom resolution in Railworks to utilize the whole width?
What kind of projection is used by the game engine?
Only with the right projection one can use the whole curve of the screen without distortion.

I use a program called SoftTH for my triple monitor gaming because one of my monitors isn't the same resolution as the others. That doesn't work with Train Sim but I've been told that nvidia surround does. I believe you need all monitors to be the same res for that.

Regarding curved monitor:

http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/it/m ... E790CNS/EN

This is the one I use and it works and looks great!

I also have the VR Oculus Rift DK2 but sadly DTG has not implemented support for it yet ( it does support DK1 ). *!sad!* Im hoping that DTG will implement VR support for its next "UE4" trainsim to be released next year.

Once you go VR ( example Elite Dangerous ), no monitor, ultra wide, or multiple monitors will come close to the feeling of "being there". VR is just amazing.! **!!bow!!**

Whoops... Off topic. Im out..
